Someone asked me for this photo and SORRY...I erased your email! Here it is anyway. The waves were done in fondant and the rest of the cake is all smooth buttercream. The couple made their "first cut" with a tiny gardening spade!!

Flip Flop cake for my niece's 12th birthday. My first try at MMF . . . definitely made some mistakes, but it was a great learning experience.

- beach towel is a piece of gum
- board walk is the top layer of those sugar wafer cookies that have cream in the middle
- the "wood" posts at the end of the boardwalk are pieces of caramel rolled into a log
- sand is "sugar in the raw" on top of tan frosting
- sea animals are from a package of Swedish Fish Ocean Friends
- the waves on the side are from white icing with a blue striped bag
- ocean on the top has blue frosting with some spots of white and deep blue underneath the blue piping gel on top

My son's 1st birthday cake. He loves Barney and fish/water. It's a 12in white cake with pineapple filing and a 6in white cake with raspberry filing. Both covered in buttercream and crushed vanilla wafers for sand.

These chocolates (yes chocolate) :) were all hand made by me. They are also flavored! Butter rum, vanilla butter nut, coconut, and mint to name a few. It is eatable art! People can't believe that they are eatable and that they are chocolate. Most people think they are REAL shells! You can see some of the other shells I have been making on my website www.danasflowers.net Enjoy!

This cake was made for someone my sister works with. She was getting married on some island so my sister and her co-workers wanted a beach themed cake. The writing on the cake says "Eat, Drink and Be Married" (this was also on her wedding invitations). The cake was F.Vanilla with Almond Buttercream frosting. All the shells and the palm trees were made from chocolate. I also used sanding sugar for the beach.

This was my first "real" cake I made outside of Wilton classes. It was for my little sister's 16th birthday. It was so much fun to make.

Just made this for a customer's 6 year old daughter. She didn't want any writing on it....so, there's not! Looks a little naked to me! She's picking up tomorrow...hope they like it!! Iced in buttercream, except royal flowers on the side. It's vanilla cake with chocolate filling (that's what the 6 year old wanted!) Thanks to many on this site, especially Aitza, for the inspiration! :)

I made this cake w/character shape pans. The trees are made w/pretzels and buttercream icing. The people are done w/figure piping. The sand is brown sugar and the water has piping gel over buttercream. The ball, sun, lotion and pail are candles. The castle was made by packing brown into a small container and tip. Fun to make!

A little plain but this was my first attempt at a seashell wedding cake. Any suggestions to liven it up would be greatly appreciated!

My step-daughter & I made this cake for my husband for his birthday this year. We used a lot of unedible pieces because we were short on time & I've never tried fondant. We painted all the props with non toxic paint. The image in the boat is a picture of my DH with a fish he caught on our lake.
We love our lake & all the fish, frogs & turtles we see so this cake was all about that.

2nd beach themed cake and much easier then the 1st. (Used fondant to make trees, flower, shells, etc.- very time consuming!). This was fun to do and the bride to be loved it. You can't tell in the pic but I used the edible glitter and the "sand" looked very real.

This cake used the same shells as my previous one, only this time I used luster dust to color them and kept the cake white.

Here's my version of the flip flops on this site. I loved the idea! One was chocolate and one white cake with strawberry mousse filling. Iced in buttercream with brush embroidery on top, which is hard to see in the picture. They were for a little girl's 10th surprise party and were a big hit. Thanks for looking!

1/2 sheet cake, vanilla. Buttercream icing, crushed vanilla wafers for sand, pretzel rods with fondant leaves for palm trees. The seashells, starfish, beach blanket, beach chair and beachball are all fondant. The only thing not edible is the little umbrella. I'm so proud of this one! And I can't believe how easy it is to make, I have to thank everyone here on CC for their ideas on the beach cakes, your all great!

First time modeling fondant...I was very happy with the results. I was going for some sagging and rolls. The girl it was for is a rail, so it was pretty funny!
