Beach themed party for little brother and big sister. Each had to have their own special cake, with a larger life preserver for the other guests. All the kids were fighting over a piece of the rope on the life preserver cake! Go figure!

The cake is chocolate w/buttercream (w/almond twist) icing. The banner is fondant decorated with edible markers. The shells are marbled chocolate. The dolphin is not edible. I found it at Michaels and thought it would be cute jumping out of the "ocean" of icing. The candles represent tiki torches and are rainbow just like the rainbows you see in Hawaii.

This one was done for a 12 yo birthday. She was very specific about what she wanted, including the flamingo in the center! I found it while on a trip to the zoo with my children. I purchased it in the gift shop for under $2! I fell in love with it, it was so realistic, and I knew it would be far better than anything I drew on the cake!

This cake was ordered by a woman who wanted to surprise her hubby. She wanted to celebrate their anniversary by reliving their honeymoon. She wanted a beach themed cake for the occasion. The dog is a puppy that he is supposed to be giving her as an anniversary gift. If not she has an easy one to take care of now! Chocolate cake with buttercream. Fondant figures and gumpaste chairs.

This is my first attempt at using fondant. The cake is red velvet with cream cheese frosting and everything else is rolled fondant. I found it kind of difficult at first but think my next cake using fondant will be much improved.

This was for my niece. All she could tell me was it needed to be Strawberry Shortcake! So, I found a book that had a beach themed Strawberry Shortcake and went with that since we had the birthday party outside in the sweltering heat!! This was my first time sponging a cake. My palm trees started falling off in the 1-hour drive to my mom's house. So, I made my husband stop and buy some toothpicks at the nearest gas station to hold them up! Worked fairly well, except for messing up the border.

This cake was made for a preschool party. They had just learned about Hawaii and had a luau party. The Texas humidity made the palm leaves droop, but the kids loved it(the trunk is a Twix). The volcano was made of Ding Dongs covers in frosting. The coconuts are Whoppers. The beach towels are fruit roll ups. The surf board is taffy. The sand is graham cracker crumbs and there was a gummy shark for each kid. They loved it!!

Chocolate cake with Barbie doll stuck in the mini doll pan. Used real sea shells. I tried to make the ocean wave look at the bottom and then I copied the hibiscus from the napkins. This cake was lots of fun!!!

1st attempt at FBCT! Grand aspirations were to cut each jigsaw piece as a serving, but the kids were antsy so I had to just chop chop. Smash cake was cut from the cake as a puzzle piece. Cake was vanilla/ strawberry/ vanilla (strawberry recipe from CC), and layers filled with fresh strawberries and my own vanilla cream concoction lol. Vanilla BC for icing and FBCT. Thx a MILLION for all the help along the way! I am pretty proud of this one in terms of what I'm learning every time I do a cake!

This cake was made for my Sister-in-Law's wedding 5th of Aug. MMF with two layers chocolate/chocolate fill and two layers pound/strawberry fill. It was my first attempt at a topsy-turvy cake so I didn't go too crazy. The couple thought it looked like waves and loved it. I had LOTS of compliments at the wedding too. It was a little embarassing. I had lots of fun doing it, but I think I took on a bit too much for my first wedding cake...I was SO stressed out. Thanks for looking! Hope you like it!

For a family beach trip...wanted chocolate shells instead the "gummy marine life" candies, but I forgot to bring my shell mold - so the candy was the best I could find last-minute! "Neopolitan" cake - one strawberry, one chocolate, and one white layer. First time trying rolled BC (colored w/red kool-ade) - tasty!
