Got my inspiration from some other fabulous cakes on this site!! Thank you to the talented idea lenders!! Cake is yellow torted with choc. fudge!! Shells are chocolate and the sand is Brownulated Sugar mixed with organic grain sugar (sparkles). Mixed several shades of blue for the water! I sprinkled "sand" all around when on display table for a great effect!! Enjoy!

This is a yellow sheet cake with vanilla BC frosting; the water has two different shades of blue piping gel; the beach is covered with crushed vanilla wafers. The hut is a chocolate cupcake with an umbrella stuck in the top covered with chocolate BC. My hibiscus around the sides are color flow; the beach ball/towel/surf board with "Roxy" symbol/flip flops are all fondant. The shells are molded chocolate with pearl dust. Thanks to gmcakes, Doug, and ogolds for your help with this one. They loved it too!!

I made this for my niece's 15th birthday. She wanted ocean/palm beach theme. I hope she likes it!

Top tier is vanilla BC with crushed vanilla wafers. Bottom is fondant covered. All cakes are chocolate with choc BC filling. I frosted lightly the day before and let sit overnight. Also kept filling icing stiff...hope fondant does not bulge. Waves are fondant with BC outline. Seashells/dolphin/chair and umbrella are fondant.

This is my biggest project to date. I am really pleased with it!

I made this cake for a group birthday party. The theme was Jimmy Buffet so I decorated the cake like Margaritaville. It was a lot of fun to make. Instructions on how to make this cake can be found at www.pieceofcakedecorating.com

Here is DS's birthday cake. Pinkbunny was kind enough to let me copy her design, although it pales in comparison to hers! We had a beach party today - close to90 degrees and 85% humidity. As you can see, the accents never dried. The GP was still quite tacky after 5 days, and the palm trees bent and cracked. At least the fondant didn't melt off the cake at the beach!

Client requested a "Cake for Two" (6") playful beach themed sand castle cake for 50th anniversary. I asked if a crab couple would be fun and she agreed! It was fun to make and easy. Chocolate Shells, Fondant Critters and Brown Sugar Sand. Top tier is a ice cream cone.

I made this for a teacher who was retiring. It's chocolate cake with bc and mmf accents. The only thing that's not edible is the umbrella and support for chair. She loves the beach, so this was perfect!

3 tier wedding cake made at the Cakes for Catering class at Wilton in July. It was made as a joint effort, with my 2 wonderful partners. We did a tropical theme, with royal icing poppies and lilies, fondant palm fronds, and a fondant pineapple topper

These are all dummy cakes, except for the top tier. The main cake is 6", 10", 14" and the satellite cakes are 6", 8" and 10". The hurricane lamps are filled with sand, shells, and water - the goldfish were left at home due to high heat! The wedding had a beach theme...very fitting, as we live just about on Lake Michigan! I added white chocolate shells to the smallest cake, and also placed some with the flower arrangements to tie all the cakes together. There were also 24 centerpiece cakes.

Did this cake this weekend for mother's 60th BD. Cake is chocolate with Peanut Butter icing. Shells are fondant and chocolate, stones are jelly beans. Also used dragees, pearls, green buttercream for seaweed, crushed Nilla Wafers for sand. My mom was specific about cake and icing and wanted a bear on the cake, so I made one from fondant and hid it among the shells for her to find.

The sheet cake is a light lemon cake with raspberry filling. The wave is carved from a white chocolate pound cake. Frosted in buttercream, with graham cracker crumb sand. The people are buttercream, the sand castle is made from a buttercream/graham cracker paste, and the surf board and shells are candy melts. Footprints and "happy birth day" (for my brand new newphew's birth day (7-28-06)) were drawn in the sand. thanks for looking!
