This was the second cake I ever decorated... Since it was the first time I did such a 'complex design' I decided to document it... I think this will be a good help for beginers. Enjoy!

Opps! I sent the wrong one. This is the one that I wanted ya'll to see. I had an afterthought when I thought it was done and went back and added the 3 balloons in the back

I'm a beginner @ cake decorating, but here's my first attempt at playing with fondant for my daughter Veronica's 3rd birthday. Her theme was Strawberry Shortcake, but she saw a design similar to this one in a decorating book I have, so I blended the 2 ideas to make strawberry-shaped balloons.

Thought I was done after the first TWO cakes I did yesterday then hubby came home and wanted to know if I could do a small one for a friend of his who's wife had her baby! So this was a very fastly done cake, I was SOO tired by then lol. I just put some balloons on it, the baby's name and birthdate. No border around the bottom because I used the icing tip with the combed side up, on the sides of the cake, so I just left off any bottom border since it came out around the board well enough!

Cake for combination celebration - welcoming family to summer retreat from across the country and two birthdays! Dark Chocolate and Vanilla ckae layers, with Chocolate Syrup Frosting filling. Buttercream under marbled fondant, then 'waves' applied to sides. Birthday boy is a fisherman, hence the frog catching a fish. Thanks for looking!

This cake was made for a special education summer program. It is a two layer half sheet cake, half chocolate, half yellow, with chocolate ganache filling. The icing is BC and the sun is a FBCT. It was miserably hot and humid that day and it held up very well.

made these for my daughter's birthday. sugar cookies with royal icing. the 2's are cookies iced separately, then glued on with royal icing. i used regular sucker sticks, attached with very thick royal icing - worked like magic, none fell off. the ribbons were a different story - broke 5 while tying them on!! i was not sure how to arrange them, was not so happy with the overall look, but it was a great success

I just wanted to practice so I made this cake. I would have used the same colors for the borders but I didn't have enough icing of one color.

I made these two years ago (Before course 1 & 2) for my daughter's 9th birthday. The party was a carnival theme with games and prizes. Sorry the picture is blurry.

Made today for my sister's 30th birthday, which was yesterday, but we had our family party tonite.

She LOVES her boxer and blacklab, so I threw together this cake immortalizing her boxer in MMF. Everything is edible except the toothpick on the balloon. This was my very first time doing any type of figure modeling. I was pleased with how it turned out, and I can't wait to make some more.

Sour Cream White Cake + Vanilla Buttercream + my very own White Chocolate Cream Cheese Strawberry filling. SO good!

Just a detail of the fondant Cameron (my sis' boxer) for her birthday cake.

You can see the entire cake in my photo album.

This was my first fondant figure. Learned a lot!

All white cake, 9" and 6", with BC and fondant accents. The doggie was made with MMF and painted w/ Wilton colors. Balloons are also MMF dusted with white sparkle. The cupcake is simply decorated with candy melts done in coordinating colors to the cake. Cake and cupcakes are for a little girl's first birthday..hope the mother likes how it all came out! Thanks for looking.

A friend of mine wanted a cake with balloons and unfortunately I'm not very creative so I came here to try to find an idea. I couldn't believe that there weren't hardly any cakes with balloons that I could find. Anyway, the balloons are done with fondant, the rest with buttercream. For some reason, I couldn't get my buttercream smooth this time. I just didn't have very good luck with this cake. I'm sure we've all had those moments....at least I hope I'm not the only one.

I made this cake for work to celebrate the August birthdays. It is one layer of yellow and one layer of chocolate with strawberry filling and buttercream icing and decorations. I wish I was able to get my icing a little smoother and then it wouldn't be so bad. I still need a lot of practice considering I just finished courses 1 & 2. Hopefully soon I will be as good as all of you.

I did this cake for a woman that wanted to have an insect theme for her son's 8th birthday. The body is a bundt pan cut in half, and I used the mini-balloon mold (the one with 6 mini-cakes) for the feet, face and butt. I had to cut the pointed end off the balloons for the feet, but I kept it on for the ends. The feet are Wilton tip 16 stars, and the fur is Wilton tip 233. I love how it turned out. The only problem is that the lettering didn't make it to the customer - it stuck to the lid of the box :-(

I made this cake for a co-worker. The theme for her daughter's b-day was just balloons. She didn't want anything with balloons, just balloons. She said everyone loved this cake. Chocolate cake with fresh strawberries. B/C icing.

This was my first go at a cake in Sep 03, i thought i chose an easy one, but this took ages because it was all muffins and they had to be iced seperately - i was happy with the final product though as my little boy loved balloons.

These are the cupcakes I made for the kids, which went with the theme of the clowns and balloons. I forgot to mention earlier that the letters sitting on the cake were actual wooden letters that I got at Michaels and covered in MMF.
