This was a bear of a cake to make. As soon as I made the fondant slippers the rain started coming down! It has been raining since (I made them Thursday, it is now Tuesday). The buttercream of course would not crust like it should have so it is not nearly as smooth as I would like. I could go on and on, but I know as someone else said "we are our own worst critics" so I will stop there.

French Vanilla (my new favorite)Pink fondant ballet shoes, very light lavendar buttercream w/ white bc borders

Friend wants ballet cake for daughter. Trial cake. Inspired by Debbie Browns fairy cake. Got lots of criticism for the face - monkey face (from a 4 year old), old lady, so fat, etc... sigh

I did this cake for the Dance Studio here in town yesterday. They wanted the bright colors but I think I would have been happier with it if I'd done it in softer colors. Oh well, guess we have to do what the customer wants! LOL :) 12X18 half white, half choc. all buttercream with FBCT.

Ugh! Having icing issues lately for some reason (I have a post in the forums about it). Anyway, liked this cake before I put the slippers on. But, she wanted them to be cake, so what could I do. All buttercream (crappy, messed up buttercream!), with fondant accents. My favorite part is the tulle around the board to resemble a tutu.

These were done as thank you gifts for my daugthers' ballet teachers. One is in ballet (pink) and the other is in hip hop (black). I made mini chocolate cakes with twinkie filling. Frosted in buttercream and used fondant for shoes and accents. The teachers were thrilled! They all said they didn't want to eat them. They were alot of fun to make. Thanks to cakemaker for her template for the ballet shoe. Thanks to all for looking!

Had some trouble with filling coming through the icing this time :( Tried to cover it up with flowers! Guess I should have dusted it off before I took the pic! Things you don't notice til later...

This cake was done for a young lady graduating from HS. I was told that her favorite colors were turquoise and brown and that she was involved in pagents, dance, and music. This is what I came up with. 2007, tiara and ballet slippers are fondant. I definitely need help with scrollwork!

my niece missed out on her birthday party this year for various reasons, where she was supposed to get a big fairytale ballerina princses cake. We had a private party just the 2 of us so I made this for her. Lemon cake/lemon icing. Book with 'once upon a time' bit, ballerina sitting down. Took pic with webcam (thus the quality). Will upload better one when photos get developped. Thanks for looking.

Ballerina cake for my co-workers 4 year old daughter Samantha. Strawberry cake with vanilla bc filling and bc icing. The skirt ruffles are bc piped with a tip 103 in varying shades of pink (used a LOT of icing). The top layer of skirt, tank, and pointed foot are all MMF. The 4 is white chocolate dusted with pink edible glitter. Inspired by Icemom's ballerina cake.
