Friend wants ballet cake for daughter. Trial cake. Inspired by Debbie Browns fairy cake. Got lots of criticism for the face - monkey face (from a 4 year old), old lady, so fat, etc... sigh

Inspired by a similar cake on cake central. I love the look of this cake and the fondant ballerina turns out better than expected. :-)

Did this for 2 little girl's dance recital. Half devils food, half white cake. High humidity buttercream (worked wonderful!!). I made their faces, torso and skirt out of candy clay and used different shaped cutters for those parts, then decorated!! I'm still new to decorating and I thank you for looking - and I would appreciate all suggestions and comments.

Here is a close up view of the cake for 2 sisters dance recital. I used candy clay and cookie cutters to shape the head, torso and skirt, then piped decorations and features on top. I'm still new to decorating and I thank you for looking and appreciate any suggestions and comments.

This was my attempt at Debbie Brown's Sugar Plum Fairy...6" round yellow w/ buttercream and fondant. Unfortunately her face looks more like Olive Oyle than a ballerina...next time I will use more spacing between the layers of frill for the skirt to save material and time! Please comment as I am a beginner and desire feedback. I am also really intersted in a price range for this cake. THANKS

my niece missed out on her birthday party this year for various reasons, where she was supposed to get a big fairytale ballerina princses cake. We had a private party just the 2 of us so I made this for her. Lemon cake/lemon icing. Book with 'once upon a time' bit, ballerina sitting down. Took pic with webcam (thus the quality). Will upload better one when photos get developped. Thanks for looking.

Ballerina cake for my co-workers 4 year old daughter Samantha. Strawberry cake with vanilla bc filling and bc icing. The skirt ruffles are bc piped with a tip 103 in varying shades of pink (used a LOT of icing). The top layer of skirt, tank, and pointed foot are all MMF. The 4 is white chocolate dusted with pink edible glitter. Inspired by Icemom's ballerina cake.

Ballerinas made from fondant. These were placed on frosted cupcakes for a birthday party. The birthday girls each got a ballerina and the rest of the cupcakes each had a simple pink and white flower on top. I was inspired by Debbie Brown's ballerina in her book, "Enchanted Cakes for Children."

This cake was for a little girl who was going to be performing in her first recital. The cake is actually the bed, which is decorated as her bed in her room. It is a 2-layer 1/2 sheet cake with vanilla and chocolate cake and cannoli cream filling. The bed posts are made of gumpaste and the pillows, and bedspread are made of fondant. I made a little edible ballerina wearing the same dress that the little girl was wearing for her recital. It was a fun cake to make.
