Ballerina cake for my friend's daughter...thanks to IceMom for her help and inspiration and all the forum help whilst I was modeling! My friend wanted this 3 days early and bigger cake than originally specified so my ballerina looks a bit small for her skirt! 10" cake with bc icing and fondant top skirt and model. Lots of practice with ruffles and I really learned a lot..especially what I would do differently but for a first attempt, I was happy. Luster dust on skirt and bodice.

ballerina closeup. Had so much fun with this cake. It is a bit off because I had to increase the size of the cake from 8" to 10" so she looks like her clothes are a bit big..lol!

This cake was made for a little girl's birthday. She's a cheerleader and a dancer so she loved this one! The skirt was made with a rose tip, which was a lot easier than I expected it to be. I used chocolate buttercream for the body and buttercream for the other areas.

2-layer 10" cake. The ballerina slipper ribbons formed some of the letters on the cake. One ribbon trailed over the side (not shown).

Poured sugar stained glass, painted it to look like ballerina, put it with roses on top of ice cream cake I made with chocolate fudge cake layered with vanilla ice cream and crushed oreos for my 7 year old. She does ballet, and wanted a ballerina, and I've been wanting to try this technique. She looks better from straight above, but I couldn't get a good picture that way!

This was my daughter's 8th birthday cake. I had a lot of trouble getting the icing smooth, and there are a lot of bulges here and there on the cake but I was happy with how the drop flower border turned out, and my daughter loved it and that's all the really matters. The bottom tier is a 9 inch 3 layer red velvet cake and the top tier is a 6 inch 2 layer chocolate cake, both with cream cheese buttercream icing.
P.S.- The date on the camera is set wrong, this is from today 3/25/2007

This cake is for my daughter's 4th birthday. As always, I learned a lot, and there are things I'd do diffierently next time. But overall, I'm very pleased with it. carved 8" white cake, with fondant frills and modelling paste ballerina bust. Cake board covered in fondant and outlined with a non-edible pink boa.

Probably the largest shoe ever made! lol. (3) 12x18 sheets of vanilla cake stacked with strawberry IMBC filling made this beast! Just to give you all an idea of the size - it's on a 22 in round board. All fondant accents - even the "floor". This is to be the presentation cake. I also made 50 cupcakes with toe shoe lolipops standing up in the centers (white w/ orchid pink luster dust). Enjoy!!!

This was my impression of Debbie Browns ballerina. I used buttercream for the dress part because the fondant would take too long! heheh

I got this idea from a couple CCers, but the gumpaste ballet slipper was way more difficult than I assumed. The cake is covered in buttercream.
