Thanks to all the CCers who posted ball & chain cakes! I got my design for this from a few different cakes. It is the 6" ball pan iced in black chocolate buttercream and the chain & cuff are fondant.

I finally tried making these and using luster dust for the first time. Thank you for your inspiration. I can see the little flaws that I won't do next time but I think it's pretty good for my first time. LOL :) I didn't mean them to be pastel colors but it still turned out OK. I was up till late and I think I do better work after everyone is sleeping!

I made these for the ladies in my office. I'm going to give each one a dozen cake balls each in little mini cupcake paper packaged in a leapard print chinese take out box with red and green ribbon tied on top. These are chocolate chocolate chip cake dipped in Baker's milk chocolate.

Just a 8X8 in chocolate raspberry cake with sportball pan on top, All covered in fondant, jersey is aslo fondant. The thing that took the longest was accually the board, darn thoes curls. :> First time covering a ball in fondant wasn't that fun either but I think it came out ok. Thanks for looking.

Thanks to the great article here on CC I was inspired to try my hand at making cake balls. I love the way they turned out. Haven't tried them yet but I will tomorrow ;-). They are pound cake with cream cheese and pecan frosting, hazlenut coffee flavouring and BC.

hook was made of white mmf and I let it dry for a few hours before painting it with silver luster dust. I covered cake with red icing and then added the silver painted luster dust for the stripe. When stripe dried I piped buttercream snowflakes on top. Inspired by you and also "thecakegirls"website. Thanks for looking.

Instead of making cake for my family Christmas gathering, I made several flavors of cake ball. We had carrot cake drizzled with white chocolate, chocolate cake covered in chocolate, low-sodium (yellow) cake covered in chocolate and milky way cake balls drizzled with fudgy icing.

My husband recently discovered he REALLY likes cake balls after I made a trial batch. He told me I could stop making cakes and only make cake balls from now on. This is my second time making them.....for him to bring into work. I used hazelnut creamer and Wilton candy melts. Accented with vanilla almond bark.

Based on Debbie Brown's cake in Easy Party Cakes. I have GOT to find a better way to do those strings. Anyway...bottom is strawberry cake iced in buttercream, made to look like a ragwool rug. Yarn is chocolate from sports ball pan, covered in fondant. Kitten is candy clay. Now I have to transport the thing.....

I made this cake for both my husband's and dad's birthday. They both golf so this was fun to make for them. I used the end of a glass candy thermometer to make the dimples on the ball. We had to drive about 50 miles to my parents' house and I thought for sure it would fall apart before we got there but it was OK (I did dowel it).

Egg Nog Cake with Butter Rum Frosting. Cake Balls to decorate and an Almond Bark Star. I still like the IDEA of this cake, but have some serious work to do to get it to look like what I had in my head.

First of all, my cake balls were WAY too big. And I think next time I will use M&M's as lights. It still seemed to be missing something.
I might also add some snow on the branches and plan to do a little more carving to get the branches more uneven looking, and it needed a cupcake layer on top.

This cake was a huge hit at my kids school! Since both of my girls are in school it has become more of a challenge to get both of them cakes for their holiday parties. So my mother and I decided to make this cake a two for one! We brought the cake to the first class as the center piece for the food table. Then when it was time for the other party we took the top cake off, left it there and put the little snow caps on the snowmen and took the bottom cake to my other daughters class. It was perfect!

This was a thankyou cake for their soccer coach. The design on the soccer ball should have been a little bigger, but I thought it turned out nice. I was super happy with the whistle and I just added the flower because two items looked kind of "naked" and we're in hawaii so a plumeria is always appropriate :)

I was asked to make this cake for a 12 year old boy. He loves to play golf. His initial are S.T. so my wonderful husband designed and drew on this symbol of his initials. Thanks to my friend Susan (susancakebabies) for letting my borrow the grass frosting tip. Could not have done it without her help! Please give me any suggestions for what to charge for this cake. Thanks for looking!
