This was a fruit cake. The decoration was fondant. I had to use a crochet needle to do the design. It took some time but it turned out good for my first fondant cake

I saw this idea in the wilton year book. when I got to the store, they had no more seperators, so I had to make my own. the cake almost toppled over, but it managed to last long enough to get cut and eaten

I used the Martha Stewart bee cutter I bought several years ago. I iced the body in pale yellow, iced stripes in black then sugared them with black sparkling sugar to make them "fuzzy"...then the wings are done in the brushed embroidery technique. Pretty simple, but 30 of them took 2 hours or so!

I got this idea from a Fabulous cake decorating book. Their cake was made with fondant though. This one is BC. With a fondant baby blanket, blocks, and booties.
I poked holes in the crusted BC with a toothpick and went around each hole with icing to make it look like lace.

Cake was done for a couple who was having twins...They let us go with the fun and so we thought it cute to have it look like the cake was squishing the stork! Mom to be loved it and said that is exactly how she felt! Fondant on both layers;pacifiers made ahead of time and let crust over to stay up. Stork was styrofoam covered in royal and other sugar parts and then "glued" to the board before cake was set on.

I have LOVED this cake since I first saw it in the gallery and finally had a chance to make it this weekend. Thanks to llee who did the awesome original! 9X13 lemon-blueberry iced in buttercream with fondant diaper shirt and booties dusted with super pearl luster dust. The ribbons are real. It was a huge hit and the mom-to-be kept a bootie!

I've been dying to make an 'underwater' themed cake. When I saw that one of our neighbors had just had a baby, then found the little frog and fishy teethers, I knew I finally had the perfect opportunity! The 'sand' is crushed vanilla wafers, the rest is all buttercream (except for the teethers, of course).

The lady who ordered the cake wanted the cake design to match the baby's room! Black and white checks, purple w/splashes of yellow and orange! I didn't know what I'd do, but I love the way it came out! 3 Layer choc fudge cake w/raspberry filling (thanx ladycakes!) and BC frosting....& fondant decor! Whew!

I used buttercream icing, fondant decorations and milk choc cake. Thanks for looking. As I finished these two cakes at 4:30 in the morning I forgot to add the border on the top and I was going to add bows on the corners too!!! Guess I should have stayed up a little longer or finished a little earlier!!! The baby and bear were a first for me! I loved doing them! They were a lot of fun!!
