This cake was actually made for a baby shower, but could easily be used for a birthday cake also. The background is airbrushed but the rest of the cake is buttercream.

I used a pattern off of the Internet to make the poodle. I used a small start tip for the light pink and a big star tip for the bright pink. It was lots of fun.

Heres the WB book Zoo Cake. Scratch chocolate with cookies n cream, scratch butter with raspberry. Buttercream (neon color blending) icing with chocolate accents. This one was so much fun...even though it took me all day (it was short notice), and the kitchen is destroyed, i was sad to say i just couldn't do anymore to it! I'll definately do this one again...Its' actually for a friend of my friends who just became a first time grandma...the nursery is a zoo theme, could be used for lots of things

I am a children's librarian, and recently held a "cake decorating" workshop at our library. The kids got to decorate one of four cupcake designs. Over 150 kids came. I chose simple designs that the younger kids could handle. The kids really enjoyed it, and other libraries are now considering add this program. We used white icing for the base. We used a large mint pattie for the center of the paw, and 3 Junior Mints for the outside.

This was my first tiered cake - my sister had a circus party for my niece and wanted a carousel. I learned ALOT from my mistakes on this cake! I am really proud how it turned out. My sister loved it but more importantly so did my niece - all she could think about was pulling one of the cones off the top to eat! Thanks for looking!

A customer requested that I make a cake that looked like roadkill for a party that she hostesses with her husband every year. They call it a roadkill bash, and everyone is supposed to bring food that looks disgusting but tastes good. That's my sense of humor!! The tire tracks are not as good as I would have liked, but after doing all that fur, my hands were going numb. She LOVED the result!

The invitation for this cake was adorable!! (Shown enlarged in photo) The animals and the writing are done in royal icing. I got it a little too thin for the animals, but not too bad. The rest is BC.

I made this for a friend who was giving a Noah's Arc themed baby shower. It's a chocolate cake with buttercream. The animals are molded out of mmf. This was my first cake with mmf animals. She was happy with the way the cake turned out!

The hunk of swiss cheese is one 10" layer cut into thirds and stacked to make a 3 layer cake. The icing can either be fondant (shown) or buttercreme. The passed out fondant mice are holding Wilton candles that are shaped like champagne bottles.

My first 3D cake. I carved the duck out of a couple of rectangular cakes, held the head on with bamboo sticks, pringles for the duck bill, m&m's for eyes and buttons, and cheated a little by using a regular ribbon for the bow. My little boy LOVES ducks and couldn't stop saying "ducky, ducky, ducky..." :-)

A 10 yr old loves horses and I refused to make a cake with a horse sitting or lying down. My first attempt at royal icing (the fence, vine, flowers & horse hair) My first attempt at fondant and gum paste (the horse) Getting it to stand was a task. Three horses later I finally settled on a mix of fondant, gumpaste and lollypop sticks. (Sculpty is much easier) The rest is BC with a two layer (one chocolate and one yellow) cake with chocolate pudding. I was happy to see this cake go!!!

Mother having a safari themed baby shower. She said to do whatever I wanted. I had seen a very similar cake on CC and decided to go with that. I had a blast making it. The palm trees would be edible if I didn't have to use glue to glue them to the pretzels. I couldn't get the icing to make them stick! I was happy with how it turned out and look forward to doing more like it.

Grammy likes owls, so, this is what we did. She also says "happy to you" for "happy birthday", hence the smily face, #2, and letter U. Lemon cake with 4 layers, raspberry btwn 1 & 3, and cream cheese frosting btwn the middle. BC frosting with gumpaste owl. (gumpaste was a little old, so cracked a bit). I also did all little gumpaste flowers around the bottom. Thanks for looking!

Chocolate sponge cake with buttercream icing. Used a colouring in page to cut out. Outlined using the pin-prick method. The wool/yarn could have been done better though.
