Fondant covered cake; bows & ruffling on the sides. The kissing couple are 3D bas relief figures made from fondant. The figures were built-up piece by piece and dressed with miniature fondant clothes, which were colored and shaded. The little boy's hand stands away from the cake and is holding a miniature detachable gumpaste rose bouquet for his valentine. "Be Mine" lettering, done in royal icing and painted with gold petal dust, is located at the top of the cake. The photo is not as clear as I would like.

Elmo is actually made with candy melts, not cake. I used the Elmo shape pan, filled it in stages, and supported it with a cut-out cake board. The face, whites of eyes, and nose are candy melts, the black is icing. It was so much easier and quicker than making another cake. The kids were able to break off a chunk of Elmo to take home in their treat bags, too! the friends around the cake were found at the dollar store.

I made this for my son's birthday. Thank you to all the people on here who posted the spiderman bust cakes and the instructions. I used the same idea, and base, just a different character.

Well, this is the finished cake. My son didn't want anyone to cut into the monkey's head (yellow cake), so I sat it on top of a round cake with the logo around the side. The monkey is covered in MMF. The head is actually cake. The body is a paper towel tube covered in MMF. Learned quite a few lessons here! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The balloon is a ball cake with a 2/2 styrofoam under it. I put 6 thin dowels at an angle into the styrofoam and through the bottom cake. There was one dowel through the balloon and into the styrofoam. The dowel you see in the picture was strickly for travel it was removed when the cake reached the party. The cake was surprisingly stable.

I looked at all the pictures on here to get my inspiration. Thanks, guys! The cake is covered in sugarpaste (I mixed in some chocobake for the dark brown) The design was painted freehand using gold luster dust and clear vanilla. I used just a tiny bit of brown color to get the cream colored parts.

this cake is my pride and joy- a woman wanted these vestment robes done for her brother who was becoming a decon, she gave me a picture of his robes. The cake is 3- 1/2 sheet cakes cut into the robe shape, frosted with buttercream and coverd in fondant. The design was done freehand with royal icing and dust. It took about 8 hours and 5 jars of dust but was worth it for the look on her face when she saw it!

This was for a friend's 40th birthday. He owns a classic 1964 VW Bug that he takes to regional car shows. The car is iced in buttercream. The caricature "Head" is made of maccaroons covered in fondant. The sign posts are metal curtain rods. The signs were created & printed using my computer. The roadway sign reads: "WELCOME TO LIFE IN THE NOT-SO-FAST LANE".

This is the third and final cake in the series of cakes I made for my hubbies goodbye party. Overall I would say I did pretty well considering they were only the 3rd, 4th, and 5th decorated cakes I have ever made. The cake itself is a white cake with bavarian cream filling and buttercream frosting. The sub is covered in chocolate mmf (MMMM soo tasty) and painted with black food coloring, everything else is buttercream.
