Cake layers done in various school colors with color flow mascots attached. Bottom layer was chocolate with cookies and cream filling, Middle layer yellow cake with chocolate fudge filling, and top layer is marble cake with buttercream icing for filling. Entire cake was iced in buttercream with MMF accents. Cap was made from sports ball pan with gumpaste top and fondant tassel. Cap airbrushed black...I was not too crazy about the colors but the customer love it which is all that matters I guess....

This is made from the Whimsical Bakehouse Book. LOVE this book! Cake is made with the White Butter Cake recipe with lemon mousse filling and House buttercream. The cake has a tilt to it on the top which totally threw off the hubby. He though that I messed it up, I said, NO! Thats how it is suppose to look ;-) The book was worth every penny spent on it. (~.^)

Yikes! I cut all the circles out of two 9x13's, since this was just a practice cake. What a pain! And I used an enhanced white cake mix, which turned out crumbly as heck and a pain to crumbcoat. And I'm not happy with the angle of the top layer. But other than that -- what a blast! This was a whole lot of fun, and I learned a ton about what-not-to-do. Stayed up 'til 2:30 working on it. Woke up at 6:30 to finish it. Yes, I'm addicted. All fondant over buttercream.

This is my first whimsical cake. I fell in love with this design after browsing through cake decorating links. I believe it was Sweet Creations that originally designed this cake. I'm quite pleased with the end result, my girlfriend who was the recipent of the cake was blown away, and what more can you really ask for?! I can't wait to make another!

I am very grateful to this site's contributors. Using information gleaned from cakecentral I decorated my first fondant cake last night! White base and pink stripes are MMF. Roses are raspberry-flavored buttercream (they did not turn out quite as well as I'd hoped...) sprinkled with clear edible glitter. I am taking this cake to a gathering of my close friends today. It seems our lives are so busy we're only able to get together a couple times a year. That's excuse enough to me to warrant a cake!

Here's my first Fourth of July cake (7"-10"). It's cream cheese buttercream with fondant stars, stripes, ruffles, and flag. The flag is dusted with super gold luster dust. I put red and blue crumbs and luster dust on the white icing behind the flag to give the appearance of a fireworks celebration.

I made this for my daughter Lindsey's second birthday (I can't believe she's two... *sniff*).

I used the directions posted by the talented "BKeith" and they were fantastic. Although I don't have his expertise, I was pleased with how it turned out.

I used rainbow and french vanilla cakes, with marshmallow fondant (thanks "Ntertaynme - Cheryl"!).

Thanks for looking!

This was my first real attempt at a whimsical cake and boy was it a pain in the neck!!! The didn't want the cake covered in fondant and it has been betwen 95-100 deg here in Montana for the past week. The frosting would not hold up outside the fridge, so I kept having to put it in and out while decorating. I only charged a $100 for it because I was really disappointed in how it looked. The accents are fondant covered w/ luster dust and the flowers were purchased off the sugarcraft site.

Thank you for viewing my picture. This is a whimsical topsy turvy wedding cake (I have to give credit to Colette Peters for coming up with such great technique back in 1985). I used 11 techniques and has been one of the most memorable cakes I've made since I had lots of fun and enjoyed the challenge :-).

This is a little cake (about 6" square) that I put together for a good friend's birthday. White cake, chocolate buttercream and TONS of fondant. The design is a take off of a Bronwen Weber cake I saw in one of my decorating magazines. Sides of the pot were painted with gel colors mixed with pearl dust and alcohol. The flowers were airbrushed with Super Pearl.

This is the cake that gave me so much grief. But the fine folks here at CC saw me through this project (into the wee hours i might add) Thanks from my heart! My SIL was very pleased. The middle tier says "have a beautiful life baby henry", this was for his dedication ceremony. Top tier, scratch freckled mocha cake with baileys irish cream mousse, middle tier scratch chocolate butter cake with cookies and cream filling, and bottom golden butter cake with raspberry amaretto buttercream.

This was for my SIL. Another last minute cake. I did it with 4 hours warning. My 3 year old helped pick out the colors and we all loved it. It was my first tier cake and I used cream cheese frosting that I had left over from my butterfly cake.

Tried the chocolate transfer technique from TWB. Took a couple of tries, but turned out very cute in the end. Also used their house bc recipe; delicious and wonderful to work with! Not a crusting bc but so much better than wilton, I think. Lots of fun to make!

This is a cake I made for my daughter's 1st birthday which was a princess and the frog prince theme. The frog topper is from Tuggy's instructions and the cookie design from one of her posts. Mine aren't as pretty, but I am happy with them. The royal icing tiara was based on 1 of carrielynnfields sketches in the sketch gallery. The pillow was fondant covered cake and the rest was buttercream. I got ahead of myself and left out the support dowels in the base so there is a minor bulge I wasn't happy about.

This is from a class I took. Mine is the cake in the front. It was amazing how everyone started out with the same cakes and they turned out so different. The bottom is a dummy, middle is 9", top 6". All fondant (most MMF, the yellow is Satin Ice).
