This was a dark chocolate cake. Unfortunately, I have no idea what kind of filling I used. But it was pretty dang tasty! I covered it with fondant, which was a nightmare, then put buttercream roses that were supposed to look like the sterling roses that my co-worker's husband gets her every year. I sprinkled them with some of that sparkly silver stuff, but I don't think it showed up well in the picture. Please feel free to email me a@ohbucko@aol.com with WHO WANTS CAKE in the subject line. Thanks.

Made these for a neighbor and and one for my mom and dad. They snuck away last valentines day and got remarried...they didn't get a wedding cake. The one that says "I do love you" is theirs.

Used different size cans from the pantry to make tin foil molds. The whole thing is no taller than a soda can.
B/c icing and royal violets.

Similar to the one in the Wilton yearbook. My first time making rosettes. I also don't know how to make buttercream roses yet, so I molded some out of colored white chocolate and put them around the edge of the cake (but forgot to line them up with the decorations on top!). Hearts on top are also colored white chocolate - molded them in a shaped muffin pan. People wouldn't eat them at first because they thought they were plastic! :)

This was so much fun! I got this from a book, they had you use Pastilliage for the sides of the box and the lid but I wanted it to be a box of chocolate so I used white chocolate. The border is melted chocolate mixed with some cold water to harden it. So it really is a "box of chocolate." Oh....the cake is a regular sponge cake with bc.

This is a picture of my first attempt at the buttercream fondant. It really tasted great, but found that it was a tiny bit on the "greasy" side. It also made it difficult to shape the ribbons and all, but I am sure with a little adjusting the recipe it will be good. The shape was made by using a square pan and a round pan. Cutting the round in half and sitting each half upon the sides of the square pan.

This is my new creation, a four layer chocolate cake moistened with kahlua syrup with alternating chai and mocha buttercream filled layers, all blanketed with more mocha buttercream. Like a trip to your favorite coffee house in every bite.

Just finished 5 days of Wilton classes in Chicago. Made this 2 tier stacked real cake--pound cake with buttercream and raspberry filling. Fondant covered with fondant decorations, 50/50 bow, and my design handmade gumpaste bear. Loved the classes--learned borders, flowers, fondant, buttercreams, fillings, etc. May have to re-make this for Valentine's Day!

Hello cake fanatics out there! I can't believe that being in cake mode most of my life I hadn't come across this amazing website! All you artists out there are so creative and inspire a lot more creativity in me. I want to share my daughter Miah's first birthday cake which I got the idea from one of the many sites I visited (can't remember which one) and made it into my own. Feel free to borrow my idea or make it into your own!

Here is my fair cake entry. This was tons of fun and I have received several comments. The lid is styrofoam wrapped in fondant proped up by two lollipop sticks. Assorted chocolates underneath. This was my first time trying the ruffle border and the striped affect and also the diamond impression. Red fabric ribbon is around the bottom.

I first coated the cake with a thin layer of buttercream. Used a small heart cookie cutter to make impression of hearts. Entire cakes is done in Tip 16 star-tip......yes, I my hand hurt after that one. Luckily, it was only a 9" double layer.
