I made this tortoise for my Mum's 60th birthday. It was a 10in round cake and I used the off cuts to make the feet and head. The cake is covered in fondant and I painted the pattern on the shell.

This is my first attempt doing a tier cake. It was for my SIL baby shower. Bottom cake is vanilla with strawberry filling. Middle cake is chocolate with spiked cherry filling and the top cake is lemon with strawberry filling. Fondant figures and buttercream cattails and grass; everything is edible except the wire in the dragonfly.

Butter icing with blue coloring. Colored gold fish, fruit roll ups as the "seaweed", gummy sharks, orange slices were used for the jellyfish decorated with white butter icing to illustrate features. I used the candy "nips" for the outter part of the turtle and broke up two green gold fish for the body parts. Sand was graham crackers and the colorful "pebbles" were crushed up colored gold fish. Thanks for looking!

This is a Pokemon turtle called Blastoise that I made from the 3D bear and 1/2 of the sports ball pan, for my sons 8th B-day. The water cannons are made from pretzel rods dipped in white chocolate. The icing is all Buttercream - except for the green grass on the bottom which is Wilton's Boiled Icing ( it's like marshmallow cream), and the claws are white chocolate I just poured into triangles on some wax paper.

This is the Back side of my 3D Blastoise Pokemon Turtle cake - Had to secure the shell some with wooden dowels - was afraid it would fall off before the big event.

I made a local type bouquet to give to our realtor for Christmas. A popular thing here are Loggerhead turtles (the mascot even for the school) I used thinned royal icing to make the turtle bumps. I traced the pattern using a food safe pencil and then filled in alternating bumps. i just waited until the 1st group set before I piped the second group and so on. The effect was that the turtle looks bumpy liek a real loggerhead. Next time I will make addt'l so I can try paint to give color effect

My daugther wanted a turtle for her cake. I asked her 3D or just a drawing, and she said 3D-duh! I guess that when your mom's a cake decorator you don't expect to get just a sheet cake with a drawing on top!!! She loved it and that's the most important!!!

chocolate 1/4 sheet cake with white chocolate almond buttercream. The animals were piped in buttercream. I was running out of time on this one, but if I had it to do over again I would have piped a rim around the turtle shells. Oh well. The purple squares were actually blue when I piped them on and smoothed them. Funny how they completely changed color! I mixed the three colors in one bag and used a grass tip for the fringe. I liked that effect.

This cake was inspired by so many of the adorable Baby Einstein cakes posted here, but mostly a cake posted by jennyschultz11. Thank you Jenny! The picture insets are other characters that wrapped around the cake. All BC, characters done freehand on the cake.

This was for a little boys birthday. I was asked to make a cake incorporating the scene from the favor bag pictured, so I copied the bag. The cake is a buttermilk devil's food cake with crusting buttercream (faux fondant II) icing. The name and animals are frozen buttercream transfers. The hedge is a thin layer of cake I made from a mini loaf pan to give a raised effect. It is piped with a leaf tip. Thanks for looking.

Here's the back of the turtle so you can see his little tail. This was such a fun cake to make and didn't actually take that long! The kids got such a kick out of cutting into the bright red cake!

My friends love to combine themes on me just to see what happens. Her son loves the Ninja Turtles and Mater so this is what I came up with. Mater is helping them tow their "Home Shell". see them helping him push?

I fell in love with the clean, graphic look of this baby shower cake from Bakemeacake.net when I saw it last year and was dying to try it out! The absolutely fantastic topper was hand-made in a lightweight clay by none other than our own Flourgrl (Lisa)...you rock!
The 6" & 10" cakes are Tahitian Vanilla layer cakes filled with a tart lemon curd and iced in white chocolate rolled fondant.
