This was my very 1st attempt at 3D figures...actually it was my very 1st attempt even working with fondant or gumpaste...It was for my daughters 1st birthday cake, and its from the Nick Jr tv show "The Wonder Pets!" Theres Linny (Hamster), Tuck (turtle), and Ming Ming (Chick). I used 50/50 Wilton fondant and gumpaste, and Wilton gel colors. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is a cake I did for my nephew. He and his wife love and raise turtles so coming up with this cake was so fun. This was my first time making characters using gumpaste/fondant. I have alot to learn but I was pleased with this cake. My nephew loved it.

The mother was having a reptile guy bring live reptiles to the birthday party for the boys to interact with, so she asked for cupcakes along the same theme.

Basic sheet cake with buttercream icing. I wasn't feeling well when I was decorating it and it isn't my best work. Nothing was going right for me! I accidently pushed the cake into my stack of decorating bags and gouged the back corner and side - thankfully on the back. I couldn't get it to smooth out again after that. At least the child that I made it for was happy with it! That is all that matters anyway. :)

This was supposed to be a 2 tier topsy turvy cake, but the top tier came crashing down tearing off the side of the bottom tier (after all the stripes were on).I was devastated, I was ready to go buy a cake from HEB. i was in tears! But I stepped away from the kitchen and then my wonderful husband came home and gave me some ideas to redesign the cake. This is what we came up with. My friend was happy and her friends were all impressed! At least it wasn't a complete loss! Thanks for looking!

Three 8 pound New York cheesecakes. One is Turtle, with chocolate ganache, pecans and homemade caramel, drizzled with chocolate. One is topped with dark chocolate ganache and cherries, and is wrapped in white chocolate cigarellos and ribbon. The last is wrapped in a chocolate snowflake transfer and topped with ganache and Godiva chocolate buttercream swirls. Fork, anyone?

My VERY first attempt at using fondant. Used some ideas from various cakes I've seen on this site. I molded the turtle from fondant a few days before. The mom-2-be was very pleased!!!

Used the baby's bedding as inspiration for this baby shower cake (bedding is Papagayo from Lambs & Ivy). 6" and 9" rounds iced in buttercream, chocopan stripes, polka dots and banner; animals are chocolate transfers--my very first attempt!

I baked a vanilla cake and cut it into cubes to do the baby blocks. The 13x9 inch cake is chocolate fudge with chocolate ganache filling. The creatures are molded out of fondant and the shells are made from using Wilton's candy mold.

this cake is orange creamsicle, filled with green colored french vanilla buttercream and frosted with french vanilla buttercream. the ninja turtle (michelangelo) was supposed to be a frozen buttercream transfer, but it broke, so i had to fill most of it in by hand.

i am a critique subgroup member, so all comments are welcome.

I used a Pyrex bowl for the shell, sit it on top of the Wilton Dancing Daisy pan to get the feet, tail, & base for head ( I had to carve out a little bit to get the shape exactly how I wanted it) and then a mini wonder mold sideways for the head. I secured the head using a pretzel rod so it'd still be edible :o). Basic vanilla cake with buttercream icing. The mother to be loves turtles - i hope she likes it!

My Niece and fiance are reptile and amphibian owners and I wanted to incorporate this into their cake. A very big thank you to "dabear" for the simplistic turtle design which I used. I tried to make turtles (with much grief) with separate body parts but this design was a cinch!!
The side panels are meant to replicate the invitation and was piped with Royal icing. Thanks for looking!!

My nephew insisted that he had real toys on his cake, but I couldn't resist adding extra details. This was a fun cake to make and he loved it. Chocolate sheet cake, buttercream frosting, and candy clay extras. Thanks for looking.
