This cake was for a baby shower where the theme was "Zanzibar" (not the place- the cute jungle animal collection for babies). They sent me a really cute photo of a cake similar to this one to go by, so I am indebted to the mystery decorator who made the original that I was inspired by. This cake is crusting cream cheese icing with MMF accents and I used the Americolor food coloring markers to do the black detail/outlines on the animals.

My youngest is turning three and he couldn't narrow down his selection of characters for his cake. To tie them all in together, I had Superman bring the banner, the Ninja Turtles brought the pizza, Dumbo brought balloons, and our horses brought the gifts. All characters are CT's. Top tier is white cake with mini m&m's mixed in - bottom tier is banana cake with toffee cream filling.

Strawberry cake, all BC for my daughter's 7th birthday. I was really pleased with how this turned out. I just recently started doing cakes as a hobby for my family and this cake proved all the hard work is worth it......you should have seen my little girl's face when she saw her cake (before it was even finished). Her eyes lit up and he gave me the biggest best hug, it brought tears to my eyes. Being able to put a smile on a child's face like that is priceless!!

I got the idea for this cake here on CC!! This cake was for the son of one of the ladies who works with my sis-in-law at the church nursery. The center of the cake is hollow and I filled it with jolly ranchers, gumballs, and taffy. I made a candy coat using Green Wilton candy melts. I chilled it overnight and the coating wrinkled and cracked some. My buttercream crumb coat sort of sank to the bottom but thankfully it looks like Michaelangelo's chin. His bandanna is made of fondant. The little boy LOVED it!!

I did half a sheet cake all in buttercream except for the rocks. I used fondant for them. My nephew is obsessed with frogs so I featured 7 of them, 3 alligators or crocs, and three turtles. A school of fish made up the 6 for how old he turned.

This cake is for a girl that has just finished studing Marine Biology. She is in Darwin and loves Turtles. Sugarshack was a great source of inspiration for this cake. The Turtle has a graduation hat on and there is a diploma on the side of the cake. The cake is actually very small. The bottom tier is 6 inches and the top about 4 and a half inches. Pearls are around each cake, everything else is fondant. The cakes are mud cake with ganache icing. Thanks for looking, hope you like it!

This is one of my first ever cakes and definitely the first carved cake! Look at that frosting. This was before I understood about consistency! LOL - Or the Melvira Method! I had cake leftover so I decided to make the turtle! Although I did notice that I combed the fins and they really looked good! (Quit looking you can't tell-- just trust me! LOL)

This order was for someone who wanted a turtle for his birthday, but this was as close as he was going to get this year. They were a pretty big hit, The idea looked a lot better in my head though so next time I will do it a little different.

KUDOS to lonestamper on her design of this cake. I used rice krispie treats covered with buttercream icing for Raphael, candy clay covered cake board for manhole cover, base and cake side. Fondant and gumpaste for letters, mask and hands. This was fun to make for a coworkers' son.

The groom has raised tortoises since he was little. I used several real life pictures for reference. I used the oval pan set for this one, all but the smallest. Then carved it down. Red velvet cake with buttercream filling. The shell and body parts are all greenish black tinted fondant and then painted details and finish. I put a reasonably thick layer of fondant on it so I could get the raised portions of the shell by etching it with a skewer. He was lots of fun!
