SIL wanted a r/k cake and i have been wanted to make those cute turtles from the wilton book. The shells are chocolate , the top turtle is filled with cake. I think the turtles go well with the r/k cake , it kind of look like a natural environment like rocks...

Tiered baby shower cake based on the nursery theme of Once Upon a Pond. Cake was iced in buttercream with fondant cutouts for the flowers. Frogs and butterflies around bottom cake were also made of fondant and turtle on top was made of gumpaste and then covered with fondant.

Chocolate cupcakes, chocolate ganache icing & covered and accented in fondant. Girl and turtle are both done using fondant.

Aquarium wedding cake, pound cake, buttercream frosting filled with bavarian cream, strawberry and chocolate mousse fillings. Fondant decorations with sugar crystals.

The manhole cover is foam core covered with fondant. It was meant to sit behind his head, but there wasn't enough room so it was just balanced on top. The "30" is very subtle, the birthday boy is having some difficulty with the big 3-0 so I kept it minimal.

Carrot cake for the man hole and RKT covered in fondant for the head. This was so fun to do. I only wish I had more time to make the led for the man hole.

I don't do many baby shower cakes, but I really enjoyed making this one. This one was based off of the "Ahoy Baby Boy" line of party supplies/decorations. The client provided me with a paper plate and I used this to create all the decorations from modeling chocolate. Except the bees - they were just too small to cut so I printed them on edible image paper. The blue gingham pattern was also printed on edible image paper.

Cake for a turtle-themed baby shower. 12" bottom tier was chocolate fudge cake w/cookies & cream filling. 8" top tier was strawberry cake w/vanilla BC filling. All covered in vanilla BC with MMF accents. Baby turtle was RKT & MMF. Design inspired by JillFC.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Cake. The round cake is a checkerboard cake made with the colors of the turtles then iced in buttercream and decorated with fondant. The pizza box cake is chocolate cake covered in fondant. The pizza is pound cake with frosting tomato sauce, coconut cheese, and fruit roll up pepperoni.

This was a cake done for a Youth for Christ dessert auction. Their theme was "Hawaiian Shirts and Hula Skirts" and I didn't want to do anything "expected". So, what could be more Hawaiian then a sea turtle? Perhaps one with hibiscus and leaf Hawaiian print on its shell! This one was turtle inside and out - Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake with caramel and pecan filling, covered in dark chocolate ganache. Cake is covered in fondant, hand carved shell plate design then hand painted. Head is RKT covered in modeling paste after using cobblestone texture mat (flippers modeling paste, too), airbrushed then hand painted (which didn't work as well on the modeling paste...color beaded up). The board is 1/2" foam core board airbrushed with gradated blue to convey depth then covered with heated light corn syrup and crushed graham cracker on the "beach". I added more corn syrup mixed with baking soda to the shoreline which initially had LOTS of foam and bubbles, but they gradually decreased. The Kayro syrup took about a day to dry; but was a great surface for the cake as it could be made tacky with water to attach the cake!
