Lots of firsts in one cake AGAIN! First chocolate buttercream cake, first character cake, first time making a cake for someone else who requested a specific theme or design! I'm still a little bit shaky! :) First FBCT, probably the last. Did a dozen of the turtle heads because they kept breaking!

This was for a gal getting married in Maui - It's made up of a total of 3 cakes. One 10x15 sheet, one 10x10 square and the wonder cake pan. Everything is done in buttercream frosting and piping gel. I also got to use my airbrush for the very first time to create shadows and depth on the land. The picture is dark so I don't know how well people can see that. (Otherwise it just kinda looked like a brown lump!) The sand is pulvarized graham crackers and granulated sugar to give it a little sparkle!

My 9 year old daughter made this for my birthday! We took Wilton classes together last year. She, my son and nephew decided I wanted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Cake! I am so proud of her! She did it all by herself (I did help her get the icing smooth). Thanks for looking!

This is is a single layer 1/2 sheet cake. It's been so long since I made this that I can't remember exactly how I made the faces, but I know I used a small round cake pan and a ball pan. I used parts of both of those put together to make the face shape and then covered with BC stars, layering some to make the desired shaping. The masks and mouths were made of fondant.

This one was traveling over 3 hrs. in my friend's trunk, so I kept it simple. It a double chocolate fudge with buttercream under white chocolate fondant. I used the invitation to the shower as inspiration (it had irregularly placed stripes around the edge.) Happily, the Mom to Be was delighted--she's decorated the nursery in turtles and wanted chocolate cake--and it arrived all in one piece!

Stacked 2 tier cake. Top cake is 2 layer yellow iced and filled with raspberry BC and covered with MMF. Bottom cake is 2 layer chocolate filled with fudge and iced in BC. Grass is BC; Bunny, skunk, hedgehogs, mushrooms, snails, turtle, and fence posts are all MMF and gum paste. This cake was so much fun to do! It was my first time making fondant/gum paste figures. Thanks to all who helped with directions and pictures.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake for child's birthday party. Cake is chocolate with vanilla bk and dark chocolate Satin Ice fondant (which tastes just like tootsie rolls). I intended to put a fondant rim on the cake before covering the entire thing and didn't realize that I'd forgotten until after I had it covered. I'm still happy with the outcome though. I'll post the back of the cake on the next post so you can see the "manhole cover" that is sitting on Don's head.

I made this for one of my best friends who loves turtles. I thought it would be cute to make the turtle girlie hence the nailpolish, lips and bow. The cake is double choc chip pound cake with raspberry BC filling and choc BC icing covered in MMF. I painted the spots on the MMF. I made a head out of RKT but it was too heavy so I had to replace it with one of styrofoam covered in MMF. The legs are MMF covered pillars. Details are MMF as well.

This cake was fun to make. The child loved sea turtles so I added a couple of them. I later added pearl/candy balls as fish bubbles.
