My 2nd grader wanted a birthday cake for his teacher, he asked for a cake that was like school.....I immediately thought of a cake done by cc member "katharry"!! Thank you SO much Kathryn for being so generous and allowing me to borrow your idea! Hers was a perfect example! I made a few mistakes here and there and unfortunately they showed in the pic haha......I ran out of time to make a figure for the top!!

I made this cake for a social committee meeting at my school. I just love Maxine. Since most of my committee is made up of teachers, I thought this cake was appropriate. It is half white sour cream cake and chocolate fudge cake. It was torted and filled with chocolate hazelnut filling. It is iced in white chocolate buttercream. I traced the picture of Maxine with a toothpick and them outlined it using Wilton's black tube icing. I hate making black icing. I used a shell tip to fill in the outline.

I was asked to make a cake for a fellow teacher. I was inspired by several "notebook paper" cake I saw here. I saw a tip about using dental floss for making impressions for the lines - that worked great! The eraser is fondant with shimmer dust around it.

This idea was borrowed from a few other cakes here on CC that i have seen and absolutely adored. It is entirely done in chocolate clay (the black is semisweet chocolate with black food coloring mixed in, then brushed with cornstarch for the effect of a recently erased chalk board), including the apple which is molded from red modeling chocolate. The chalk is gumpaste. Thanks for looking, and once again for the inspiration on this one! I love CC!

Inspired by celebrationcreations' design. I had loved it when I first saw it and just now found an excuse to make it. The PTA asked me to make a simple sheet cake for the teachers, we were having parent teacher conferences so they needed food and dessert for the teachers. So I made this everyone saw nothing simple about it. They loved it.

Chocolate cake with creamy vanilla filling, covered in BC. sides are covered in green fondant (chalkboard) and the top (yellow) is BC. The paper, eraser, chalk and ruler are all fondant. The apples are cupcakes covered in buttercream fondant, the stems are modeling chocolate. Made for a husband and wife who are both teachers and share the same birthday week. Had a blast making this one!

Done for a preschool teacher who retired after 23 years. The kids chose the color scheme and the butterfly theme. The saying.. ."A good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others"- author unknown

All buttercream which was quite a challenge for this type cake. The top cake imploded after I got it stacked. At least it will taste good and the husband that picked it up was happy with it.

the customer ordered an old school teacher cake. It was a last minute order and I was racking my brain and thought this was the best way to do it. It came out pretty funny, which is what they wanted. Let me know your thoughts. I wasnt sure how else to do this. TFL

This cake was for a student teacher that was leaving my son's class. I thought it would be a nice touch to add all the student's name to the cake.

These were carrot cake frosted with crusting cream cheese icing. They held up rather well. Two on the bottom though fell off after a couple of hours because the cake was so moist...no problem though, it was all eaten.
