3 layered cake is Pillsbury funfetti (white cake with blue & red sprinkles inside), red fondant is Duff, blue fondant is Wilton. This was my first cake using fondant. I like the Duff brand much better. I used action figures that doubled as part of my child's birthday gift.

Cake #8 - Comic book themed cake for my son. Iced in white, and either sprayed using stencils and then did details by hand. All 3-d was rice krispies covered in fondant and hand painted. Thor side was damaged during transport (rubbed against my moms shirt - never let anyone else carry your cakes!)

Car shape was hand-carved from a block of cake. Covered in black buttercream. Styrofoam "bat wings" at rear of cake are covered in buttercream and skewered into cake. The round hollow front section between the headlights is a trimmed down styrofoam cup covered with icing. The silver pieces are fondant covered in silver dust. The black wheels, headlights, and tail lights are fondant., too.

This cake was for a little boy's 3rd birthday. This is a strawberry cake with buttercream icing, covered and decorated in fondant. There are various superhero symbols on the cake, including The Hulk, IronMan, and Captain America. The Hulk fist pictured is made from fondant and was very heavy on the side of the cake!

8 inch and 10 inch rounds. Buttercream icing with fondant decorations. First time using a plate system. I liked it but cut the pillars too big, so I had a big gap but was able to fill in with icing. A good learning experience.

For a big superhero fan, my nephew. The bottom tier is for Thor, hand-painted lightning strikes with white edible paint, free-hand fondant helmet and RKT hammer. The 2nd (middle) square cake tier is Ironman's chest plate with the unibeam triangle. Tried to make it look like he was blasting out of a stone cave. And the top tier is a small 6" round with Captain America's shield. To the left of that tier is Antman and The Wasp flying above. both were drawn with edible gel colors onto gumpaste. The number 6 is also gumpaste. For a nice effect, I added Led lights at the very bottom under the clear cake plate stand (shown in the 2nd photo below). He absolutely loved it! TFL!

The groom loves Batman, Ironman, and the Green Lantern. LED lights were inserted into the fondant Green Lantern ring on top and a poured sugar green disk was placed in front, so the cake would light up.
