OK..wow... this is my first luggage cake and I am EXTREMELY happy how it came out lol. In the beginning, I thought this was going to be a cake disaster to be told here on CC, but it worked out! I had to make another sheet cake, cut, construct, etc. This is Vanilla Rum cake with Fondant and fondant accents. Thanks!!

This is a cake I made for my Manager's birthday, it is a copy of his own suitcase. Everything
is edible including the mug filled with haselnut mousse. This is the first time I used black
purchased ready made and it will definetly be the last. It's been very dificult to work with as it crumbles very easy due to high quantities of colouring required to get the real black.
Even rolled out at 3-4mm thickness I founded very dificult to lift it of the board.

Layered chocolate mud cake and white chocolate mud with buttercream and fondant accents and edible images. Travel sticker were of some of the places they went. It was my first time using edible images, and they became a bit brittle after I'd left them out too long before applying them on the cake. Oops! Oh well, I went with that it gave it a vintage look (which was really what I was after! LOL ) Gotta get some decent tools - like a smoother to start with!

the only real cake was the top 8", which was designed to mimic my mothers wedding dress. we met my parents in gatlinburg to celebrate their 40th anniversary and this was my surprise for them...good lord, the whole weekend, they'd tell anyone who even stood still long enough about how we surprised them...i am so happy that i was able to make them this proud...they said they'd remember it till the day they died and that it was the best surprise they'd ever had!!

This was for the manager of the Sheraton Hotel who is relocating to another country. The candle, rose, and music note all have significance. My Dad made a beautiful speech which went something like - wherever you go, if you take your candle, rose, and song with you, you will always have light, your life/experiences will 'smell' sweet, and you will always have music in your heart. Of course he said it much, much better, but I just wanted to give you the idea! Everything is sugar paste.

made this Louis Vuitton trunk cake for my little sister's birthday and she loved it! I used MMF for everything. The 'brass' parts were really shiny, painted with gold and yellow luster dust. I painted the LV pattern on the cake with a mix of coconut extract and a few different luster dust colours, and a very steady hand!

Genoise soaked in Kalhua sugar syrup, then layered and finished in mocha swiss meringue buttercream. The leather accents are Toba's chocolate fondant. I made the "stickers" with clipart images and text printed on regular then attached to freezer paper using double sided tape. This was a blast to make. TFL!

This was done for a 40th birthday. The items are the things the individual enjoys. Everything is fondant, gumpaste, or edible image. This is just a different way to pay tribute to an individual which went over well.

For a going away party…
Purse is 8†chocolate cake, cut in half, then each torted in 3, with dark chocolate mousse w/ morello cherries, with their syrup soaking the cake layers.
Suitcase is 9x13†Garash torte, 6 batches of the recipe for this size - only ahm…36 eggs and 2lb of butter among other things…
Leather effects are done with a stonewall roller and marbling.
I had a blast with the details on this one…
