For a bridal shower tomorrow, delivered tonight though, a suitcase with the Bride to be's name on the tag and lots of stickers for places shes been and places shes going. Cake is covered in fondant, and all fondant parts. The suitcase was suppose to have an "antiqued" and weathered look to it. sigh...

This is a babyshower cake for a coworker, who's wife had the Baby in the USA and he was still in Germany. He hadn't seen the baby yet, and was leaving to go back to the States to be with his family again. That's why the baby is sleeping on a suitcase. Baby made out of Fondant.

This was made for a military couple and their family that were relocating to Turkey! This was a half sheet butterscotch flavored cake with chocolate buttercream...I wrote the kids names on fondant cutoutst o look like stickers and made the adults names on a set of dog tags (as they are both in the military!).

I was asked by my friend (who is also my boss) to make her a cake for her last day before heading off overseas for a couple of months. I think she meant a plain chocolate slab cake with icing on top but I thought I would surprise her! Inspired (of course) by Katharry's fab suitcase cake, although this doesn't come close to hers!

These stacked suitcases went through a lot before they were photographed. I had them sitting on the counter covered in saran wrap (thank goodness!) and I walked into the kitchen to find my 1 year old son sitting on the counter BEATING the cake with his fist. He didn't touch the actual cake, but then I had to start patching. Just glad to have it finished.

This is my first suitcase cake. It's for a girl who is joining the Peace Corps for the next 2 years. The flag "stickers" represent a few of the countries she has already visited.

I made this for my sister's last day at work at the airport. Suitcase is chocolate fondant textured to appear as crocodile leather. This is the first time I make a purse cake - I learned a lot from this one.

Inspired by many cakes here on CC, but the purse & shoe are a copy of Ksue's. Suitcase & purse are lemon raspberry cake. Shoe is gumpaste. Chocolate fondant on the suitcase sagged a bit, but the regular fondant on the purse came out nicely. Used edible markers on the tags, and old gold luster dust on the accents. My hubby did the eagle on the passport. :-)

Made this cake for my brother and sister-in-law. They eloped to Vegas in Dec 2006. They came home from LA and this was their wedding cake. They both love to travel and aren't your typical bride and groom. Everyone loved the cake. Hollywood sign is gumpaste, stamps are ediable paper, and cake covered in fondant.

This cake is for a dear friend who is moving to NC next week. I did this whole thing in one afternoon...what a rush job. The travel stickers on the cake were made to represent things about her instead of places they have visited. They are Star Wars fans (thus the fondant R2D2), she is the world's biggest Duran Duran fan, etc. Fun to make, but very rushed! 4 layer cake with 2 layers of homemade caramel filling and a layer of milk chocolate ganache, edible images on back and sides

This is my first attempt at a suitcase cake. The MMF was really dry, but I'm hoping it just added to the "stressed" look of the suitcase. Vanilla cake w/BC filling & MMF. Straps, buckles, etc. made with MMF. Also had trouble with making the luster dust paint a solid gold, hoping that makes it look antique! LOL

These were my first suitcase and book cakes. The grad party was outside on one the hottest most humid days of the summer. Only minor cake disasters. STShe suitcase was covered in buttercream and began to melt a little. The books fondant and didnt suffer much from the heat. But the globe, covered in fondant did. Cant figure it out. The honoree was spending the summer abroad in Italy and is attending Michigan State now. I also did cookies and brownies

My second "real" cake. Done for my cousin's rehearsal dinner. We had to go to the rehersal first (with the cake in the car) and it was so hot! Kind of melted the frosting.
