This was my first cake for a non-family member. The bottom cake is a plain vanilla sheet cake sprayed with blue and dusted with glitter. For R2D2, I used a tombstone-shaped "Over the Hill" cake pan. Then I outlined the details for R2D2 with black gel. All buttercream frosting...I smoothed the frosting on R2's head, and painted it with silver and moonstone luster dust. I used a picture of R2D2 as a reference, since the details on most of the cake instructions aren't as accurate. And kids will notice :)

I made a Buzz Spaceship for Michael last year when he turned 4. He requested the same cake again this year AND I was invited to the party! I scraped off his name and replaced it with fondant lettering ~ it looked much cleaner. Easy and fun cake to make.

The USS Enterprise was hand molded in fondant and dusted with both pearl & silver dust. The details were done with edible markers and a fine bristle brush. The sheet cake is chocolate and the earth classic white both frosted with buttercream icing. The USS Enterprise is elevated 3-inches above the sheetcake using black fondant wrapped lollipop sticks. This was a lot of fun.

Classic white cake with buttercream frosting. Last minute cake, didn't have time to make the figures so I bought them in the toy section. Everyone loved the cake.

I can't take credit for decorating this. I'm an advisor to a youth group . . . they came up with the idea, baked, and decorated - I just figured how to design & construct & showed them how. The cakes are chocolate and marble. The space shuttle was carved, the earth & moon were from the sports ball pan, and the other planets were made from the mini ball pan. There are MMF stars, and ice cream cones dipped in orange candy melts to form rockets. Can you believe they didn't place?

This is my first sheet cake and it gave me so many problems. I thought it would never get done! It totally fell into pieces when I first started. It wouldn't crust so getting it smooth took forever and it still isn't that great.

The little boy who it is for really wanted to have action figures on it and a light saber so that part was EASY!

Got this idea from saramama4 in the gallery. Thank you Saramama4.

I made this cake for my friends 8 year old son. He wanted a spaceshuttle going from moon to Earth He was really specific, it took me about 1 week to find the chocolate mold and once I got it I realized I needed to make the cake a 1/2 sheet. I made the spaceshutte out of white choc. wafer filled with marshmallow. The Earth and Moon are 1/2 round cakes/cupcake. I made the earth with red dots where family resides US, Canada, Germany. It was really fun. IT turned out great and they had loads of leftover!

This is a birthday cake for my nephew's 10th birthday. I was inspired by Astro's Space Shuttle cake. The top cake has no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. He wanted a space theme so there are Meteors on the bottom and Galaxies in the middle. The top 2 cakes have peanut butter BC (Thanks sunflowerbagel) and the bottom has oreo pudding. The globe is covered in fondant.

I made this cake for my son's Buzz Lightyear birthday party. I put his face in the rocket window (blocked out by the star) and he was flying toward a RKT moon covered in MMF. My brother in law actually took the moon home to eat! The cake is covered in BC with fondant planets and stars

This was for an "space" party. The big round cake has planets all around on the sides (in order from sun to pluto), with MMF shooting stars on wires. The smaller cake is a moon cake with craters. My daughter made the alien out of MMF for the "finishing touch".

Made this for an 11yo boy who really likes Darth Vader. My husband insisted that I incorporate the Death Star Ship. I had a different vision in my head for this, but it turned out alright. Tim was happy with it, and I guess that's what matters.

3 cake mixes with egg replacement (a student is allergic) in a 16 inch round pan. Buttercream icing and used a colouring page as base for picture. Only thing I wasn't happy with was moon is too dark and the writing - because I had to use small tip it was harder.
