This cake was done for my cousin John's 40th birthday. His sister came up with the idea of all the things he has loved since he was a kid. I made the planes out of candy melts/molds. The rest is buttercream and toys.

View of Australia from space at night ! Made for the town council Australia Day Celebrations, with the theme of "2009 the year of Astronomy". Just to give you an idea of proportions, Saturn and Neptune are tennis ball covered with icing and Jupiter is a childs ball also covered with icing, the other planets are solid icing balls. The disc in front is suposed to represent looking at the moon through a telescope. Don't think I have been very sucessful in doing that though. It was a hard theme to work with. The client has seen it now and it is exactly what they wanted phew!

This was so much fun to make! It had a matching smash cake too. This was covered in MMF, all decorations MMF. The picture of Foy was clipped off the invitation. The theme and colors matched the invite. The rocket and stars were cookies with poured icing. I freehand cut the rocket out of dough to match the rocket on the invite.

I had so much fun making this for my son's 6th birthday. Used MMF. White rockets on side of orange rocket are made of rice crispies covered in MMF. The rest is all cake. For the smoke and clouds I used store bought fluffy icing.
I had made a practice stand alone shuttle a few weeks before and also put the the rockets on the shuttle with fondant covered ice cream cones which was neat. This shuttle was too small to do tha

Space shuttle was chocolate cake and did white cake for moon using Wilton ball pan. My son made the flag (his bday) and we used a astronaut figurine from one of his toys. Astronaut could be made using fondant or decorated ginger bread cookie.

This was my trial space shuttle (first time with fondant). I put rockets on this version using cut ice cream cones covered in fondant. The verticle stabilizer is graham cracker covered in fondant. As this was a practice I didn't do the best on the detail work :-)

This was for my friend's little boy's 5th birthday. The cake is iced in buttercream, then covered with black sugar. The "world" is half a ball pan cake covered in fondant. My husband cut out the continents. The space ship, stars and sun are colorflow, which I made using templates that my husband drew.

To coordinate with the space them, I used wilton's giant stars as the center topper, then CK's mini star sprinkles generously. Also used wilton's color mist.

I did monthly birthday cakes for an office. They didn't have any in April so they asked me to come up w/something for Earth Day:) A 10x2" round base cake iced b'cream & airbrushed topped w/a 6" round topped w/a 1/2 ball. Once of my 1st attempts using fondant so there are plenty of pleats which became all the earth's mountains gone south:) Space ship, alien & planets are hand molded. Stars cut w/cookie cutter; mounted on floral wire. Could make a great cake for a boy's birthday.

My son LOVES Lego Star Wars and thanks to the Lego Batman Cake youtube video he figured this would be a no-brainer for Mom! All fondant, the characters are standing on the "death star" . The lettering is also fondant dusted with gold luster dust and attached with buttercream. Luke is leaning a little because I didn't attach them to the cake until we got to the venue.

This is a 7 layer, stacked cake with a thin dowel running through the bottom five layers for support. I used a Rolled Buttercream Icing recipe for all frosting and decorations, like fondant (but the white frosting ended up too soft and started sagging- next time I'll make all of the icing more firm by adding LOTS more powdered sugar than the recipe calls for.) There were 3 wings made of green colored chocolate. The other two rocket sides had a number '6' and my son's name cut out of the rolled icing.
