made the "team" out of fondant and gum paste. First attempt at figures, man they take forever. Used a soccer ball pattern for the bottom tier. Middle is simply covered in fondant and painted. Pictures on sides of cake are fondant disks dried and painted with food coloring

Made for a joint birthday party for a 3-year-old and a 32-year old. 10" square and Wilton sports ball pans. French vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. Fondant, gum paste and ribbon decorations. I was inspired by a couple of different cakes I found online. Don't know the names of those bakers but I sure am grateful to them for their creations! TFL!

First time using the Wilton sports ball pan. I was surprised at how small it was, had thought it would be bigger. Anyway, it was for my daughters soccer season finally, and I put it on top of an 8" cake to make more servings. Ball is a little crooked, and I screwed up the pattern in the back. It's so nice that cakes have a back side ;)

This is my first soccer ball. I used the Wilton Sports ball pan and filled it with rice krispies treats and covered with fondant using the pattern that comes with the pan. The ball was placed on top of a nine inch round with a gum paste referee (which was also a first...I have never made a gum paste person before.
