Wine bottle cake for my wine loving friends' housewarming party. Many thanks to heavenlycakes for the inspiration and for all the helpful advice. The cake is chocolate pound cake with oreo filling and choc bc covered in Rhonda's Ultimate Choc. MMF. My first time trying that MMF and I love it!! Thanks Rhonda for the recipe and all of your help! The wine label, top, swiss cheese, and colby/jack cheeses are all MMF as well. Grapes are plastic.

This is my first sculpted cake ever! He's made with red velvet cake and completely covered with 1 piece of fondant. I actually made this to enter into a BBQ competition that we attended and it took 10th place out of 15 teams. They didn't like the taste. :(

I scupted this for my dads birthday. The window is cut out because the final cake has hinies sticking out of it, but I didn't know if that was appropriate to post. :) So, I took a couple of pictures before I attached the mooning hinies (can you tell I am a mom?). This was inspired by a cake by Debbie Brown. It was a lot of fun to make.

This was a birthday cake for multiple people ranging in age from 2 to 60. Each birthday person is represented by a car and their age by their position on the road. This was my first attempt at a sculpted cake as well as painting fondant.

Sculpted from four layers of cake (Sylvia's Red Velvet in cc recipes). Legs and tongue are gumpaste. Covered in Satin Ice, tail is fondant. Really fun to make, very time consuming! My son love, love, LOVED it! Based on CP design in Cakes to Dream On.

Mexican Vanilla cake with Kaluaha filling. This was for my dad who has had a tomato garden in his backyard all of our lives...so thought he'd get a kick out if. I've never seen a grown man laugh so hard. I used the idea from the Veggie Tales character Bob

This is my first attempt at a sculpted/3D cake and the 5th cake I decorate. I cheated quite a bit. I bought the cake (madeira) because I only wanted to try the decorating part as I am a fairly confident baker. I also used frosting from a can to cover the cake underneath the fondant. The "bun" is too dark but I can't for the life of me achieve flesh color! Other than that, I am pretty happy with the way the cake turned out. It is a cake from Carol Deacon's "Perfect Party Cakes Made Easy".

Sculped "banana split" cake I made for my mom and 2 year old
son for their upcoming birthdays. They really got a kick out of it! Thank you
ellepal for being so kind as to let me replicate the design. KimAZ and agagnier have also created similar cakes that I also used as inspriation.

This cake was made to match a party invitation. The dog and the yard are covered in buttercream. The hat and tiny birthday cake are candy melts, and the bone, blanket and curliques are fondant.

Chocolate layer cake with IMBC and chocolate mmf with mmf for the blue water. Two rolos melted together for powder kegs and malted milkballs for cannon balls. I used the mast and sails from my son's Black Pearl ship. This was my first ever attempt at fondant. I definitely learned alot! Now I know to make things like the railings ahead of time and let them stiffen to prevent sagging. My son was thrilled with his cake so it was fine for my first attempt!

I would have put in more detail, like woodgraining, if I had more time. We had a combined party for all three of our son's birthdays. I made three cakes and just didn't start early enough.

This cake was for my dear friend's baby shower. The theme was baby blue & chocolate colors w/ paisley & dots so wanted to keep the cake simple. The cake was 3 layers covered in fondant. The bottle top, pacifier & diaper were fondant; bottle in the pocket was a sculpted rice krispie treat. The block is a fondant-covered cake. Diaper pins were pre-made sugar decorations from the cake supply store, but they originally had a day-glow pink pin so I colored over with brown edible marker - much better!

Hubby came along and said he was going to sculpt this cake. Not feeling well, I had no fight in me and told him I didn't care and off he went! I came back thru the kitchen in a little and WOW, I couldn't believe my eyes, I left him to his car. I waited till he was done and went back in to find the BEST NASCAR sculpting I've ever seen! Needless to say, I've told him he's gonna be doing ALL my sculpted cars and we're just gonna have to see what else he's good at sculpting, I think he's better than me!

I had done fondant and sculpting in class before, but I had not attempted it by myself at home yet. So this is sort of a first for me. I am not happy with the tires and I have to do a fin next time, but other than that I am okay with my attempt. It is vanilla cake with vanilla bc. The car is chocolate cake with MMF. My first time making and coloring MMF too. What a great learning experience.

This cake was inspired by the Debbie Brown version; however, I wanted to incorporate autumn into the scene. It was made as a birthday gift for the woman for whom I baby-sit. The flower fairies are sculpted to resemble her fraternal twin daughters and their baby brother. I had never done a flower fairy before and am super pleased with the results! The flower fairy tutorial on this site is awesome! This was a fun cake! Decadent dark chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream filling.

This is a yummy french vanilla cake with satin ice fondant. Hand painted to look like his biggest bass he caught. This cake was done by both me and my husband...he is an artist so I guess this is what you get when you combine an artist with a cake decorator! We make a great team!

This was my entry into the Ace of Cakes Totally Awesome Cake Challenge in Rockford, IL. The event was judged solely by Duff himself, and I was lucky enough to receive 3rd place (honorable mention) for my scarecrow. I had the opportunity to meet several other cc members and see their amazing entries as well. I plan to put some additional photos and a video clip on my website later this week, so please come and take a peak! The scarecrow is a cake dummy that I carved and covered in fondant.
