This is one of my very first cakes years ago. My husband told me I was in charge of making the cake, one that looked like our friends dog, as a gag party. I was terrified that it would turn out embarressingly awful, yet to this day it remains one of my all time favorites. buttercream and coconut pecan with chocolate detail.

For my sons' 7th birthday party, a safari theme. I baked the cake the previous day and had one hour to assemble and decorate it right before the party because it was took big for the fridge. Afterwards I learn that buttercream doesnt have to be refrigerated due to its high fat and sugar content. Had i known that, i would have done it the day before, and given a couple more hours of my time to smooth the sides, and add more detail. I ran out of icing and the green candies making his spine so i improvised.

I made this for my daughter's 8th birthday. She wants a real dog, but her dad is allergic, so this will have to do! :)
Bed is 2 12-inch square 2-inch layers of strawberry cake, torted and filled with lemon cream cheese filling. It is covered in MMF and details are done in royal icing. Dog is yellow cake with chocolate cream filling, chocolate buttercream fur and MMF details.

My 1st 'decorated' cake. I made this for my daughter's 2nd birthday, she was mad about Homer at the time (a week later she discovered Dora!). It is a cream-filled chocolate cake, decorated with buttercream. When I look at it now, all I see is how uneven my icing is, but I was very proud at the time - and my daughter loved it!

This cake was fun to make! Everything is covered in fondant. I used a teddy bear rolling pin on the blanket, and modelled the teddy with fondant. I used an extruder to make the eyelashes and I liked this method a lot for eyelashes.

There is two boards underneath the cake to make it raised up(one is hidden). I stacked up cakes and carved them to the shape I wanted. The whole thing is covered in fondant. The tires are candy clay. The mirrors, hubcaps, bumpers etc are all gumpaste and fondant painted with silver lustre dust. "Grass" is royal icing.

This is my first sculpted cake, which I made for my nephew's twenty-first birthday. I had to replicate the shape of a Captain Morgan Private Stock rum bottle. The cylinder in front of the cake represents a Captain and Coke, a favorite drink amongst the younger crowd. It is a cylinder of cake, filled with icing, and wrapped in parchment paper. I had some trouble with the icing getting soft around the bottom of the cake, because of the warmth of the restaurant, but at least it stayed on. I presented it on a cocktail server's tray. The Captain on the left is a laminated replica printed from the company's web page.

I used the ball pan, wondermold and a couple more to get the shape, with some carving. The board is covered with fondant, with luster dust. I used fiskars texture plates to get the impressions for my quilt squares. I used a clay extruder for the eyelashes, hat pom-pom and quilt ties. Teddy is fondant too...

The cake is made from two wondermolds and some round cakes. The fondant is painted by hand, and I really need to get an airbrush!! The customer really wanted a blanket witht the dog, so I did a diamond pattern with a fringe.

Elmo's head is the ball pan, carved. His body is a small round cake with a half ball on top for roundness. I didn't have room for his legs, LOL, and she didn't need that much cake. The whole thing is covered in BC fur using the grass tip.

This is my take on several 3D dump truck cakes I saw on the website.. The customer picked what she liked for it. It was cut from a sheet of Sour Cream Poundcake and frosted with Buttercream, viva'd and detailed with lots of accents, The top shield is an iced Grahamn Cracker and its load is mixed crushed oreos, brown sugar and 'rock colored' jelly belly jelly beans... This was a big order for me, The mom also got 2 dozen matching cupcakes, with grass, orange cones and more jellybean rocks! Thanks for Looking

All buttercream except the fondant blanket. My sis-in-law didn't have a theme so I just thought "Why not do a baby?" Didn't turn out too bad for one of my first 3D and first fondant cakes.

This was my son's first birthday cake (he had a separate smash cake). The monkey is made out of chocolate clay and the bananas are Runts. Frosted in buttercream with chocolate clay accents. This was both my first stacked cake (bottom is 2 8x3 layers and top is 4 inch) and my first sculpted figure...it was so fun!

My third fondant cake...my first try at sculpting. No one told me about freezing the cake before attempting to carve on it too, so I had lots of trouble with crumbling. And the shoe went through about 3 different straps because the fondant kept breaking. I originally had a style that had laces through the straps...boy was that a pain due to the breakage. So, this is what I ended up with. I learned a lot, but still have a lot more to learn.

first carved cake i've ever done. it was difficult. i didn't use a sturdy cake and it wanted to crumble. i had to use MMF around the sides to keep it from falling over. i didn't realize until i delivered the cake that the swirls on the cake don't match either. (i've got a long way to go)
all comments and suggestions welcome
