This was a second take on a cake class cake that I had taken to my son's school. Someone there saw it and wanted one so I made her this much better version. The lettering and "flames" are white chocolate candy melts colored yellow with orange coloring swirled in. Got to play with my airbrush too!

Here is a close up of the fondant figure I sculpted in my father’s likeness. He’s a bit of a celebrity in this small town of around 15 people JK still, it is a small town and he is know to most folks as “Uncle Danny” He is also the lead guitarist as well as lead vocalist in a bluegrass band, hence the guitar. The figure is sculpted completely out of fondant stiffened with tylose. The trick to the eyeglasses was to find a bread tie or garbage tie (I found mine in the produce section of a local grocery store) Burn the paper off to expose the wire. Once the wire is cool, use tweezers or small needle nose pliers to twist into shape.

I made a similar cake last year for a baby shower. The same family called and now wanted it for their son's first birthday. I made some changes this time though. I used buttercream for the fur (instead of fondant) and I think it looks better and saved me a lot of time too!

This is a 12 inch sculpted heart shaped fondant cake with a pink bow. It was two layers, with zebra striping marbling effect. It was my very first attempt at "bow making" which I followed the Cake Boss bow technique.

This cake was for my niece who carries her little maltese puppy everywhere, she actually has pink ears. The puppy is sculpted and decorated with buttercream, her eyes and nose are gumpaste. For the diaper bag I used two 9 x 13 cakes layered and covered with buttercream and then fondant. The zipper, zipper pull hardware and handle are all gumpaste. The baby keys, bottle, and sneakers are all gumpaste. Thanks to cambo for the template I used for the sneakers (awesome template). And thanks to all CC'rs for the inspiration. TFL

Sculpted 2D cake. Body started as a 9x13" and the head started as a 10" round. Arms are fondant. Whiskers are cocktail skewers painted with Super Black. All fondant with lots of super pearl! :)

The additional cake was a quickie cake I made, because after sculpting, I did not think Hello Kitty did not yield the desired number of servings. Thank goodness for edible image printers for last-minute jobs!

This is a WASC cake, hand carved with chocolate buttercream and chocolate MMF. The accents are all MMF and painted with petal dust or shimmer dust. The chocolate writing got smeared but for the cake to have survived an outdoor event in the rain and mud was amazing!

This cake I made my fiance for his 26th birthday. I really wanted to make it special for him. Custom carved, no special pans. Everything edible except the spring supports, a couple toothpicks holding spare tire and mirrors and the foliage. My first attempt ever at a 3D cake complete with scenery. The mountains are the cake that was carved away covered with BC and chocolate rocks. The road is brown sugar sifted onto BC icing to make the look and feel of sand. Please, Ideas to make it better???

This is my 1st attempt of a dog cake. I'm really happy with the results. I would've changed a few things to make it look better, but I had run out of icing and at the moment I thought time was running out. This was for my sister Monica's birthday. On the side I placed 2 shortbread cookies shaped as dog bone treats that I made. They say Happy Birthday Monica. TFL :]

This would have been easier with an airbrush. I think I have got my hands on one now, so I should be all set the next time I need to make a fish cake!

This is a cake that I made for my packs Blue and Gold ceremony. In cub scouts the B&G is a huge deal because it marks the fifth graders journey from cub scout to boy scout. The cake was completely hand drawn and hand sculpted. All the figures are made out of fondant. I had probably 80 hours in on this cake and felt pretty proud of it in the end.

This is a cake I just finished yesterday for a customer that works in a nearby hospital and has a patient that is expecting is a few weeks(at least they hope she can last that long) and is on dialysis and in Kidney failure. She couldn't pay me very much, but I had the prompting to "go the extra mile" on this one for the mother. I finally got to try out the Damask treatment that I learned from Nick Lodge a couple of months ago in a class that I was lucky enough to attend. Everything here is completely out of gum paste, and fondant. I'm getting better at sculpting and making flowers too. My customer(who is also my friend and next door neighbor) was just floored and couldn't stop telling how fantastic is was. I was happy to do it for the new mother. TFL

I made this cake for my daughter's 5th birthday - she wanted a disco princess pary so I tried to combine the ideas using a disco ball and tiara. It is a square mudcake covered in hot pink fondant. On top is a disco ball sculpted from cake and covered in grey fondant strips then sprinkled with disco glitter. I used a bought tiara on top as I ran out of time to make a royal icing one! I made matching cupcakes and used edible sugar diamons on to p of some of them( I LOVE these sugar diamonds - they are so pretty).

A customer showed us a picture and requested this cake. I really don't like to recreate other people's custom cakes because it takes away our own artistic freedom and then there's always the comparison to see if it's the same or better or worse. Well in this cake, I think our's is nowhere near as good as the one they showed us. But the customer was completely happy and her guests were all amazed and taking pictures of it and grabbing our business cards, so I'm happy. The original monkey head I made from Rice Krispies, but when we were ready to put it on top of the cake we realized that we should have made a better support system, because the head was just too heavy, so I shaped this one quickly out of styrofoam, buttercreamed it and remade and applied the fondant in about an hour. No too shabby huh? The bananas are made from fondant and everybody loved them. But I didn't know they were going to be eating them. People were actually picking them off at the cake cutting and eating them and they like them. But, next time I will use Tootsie Rolls (someone told me they have banana Tootsie Rolls, which would be perfect) and then cover them in fondant. The circles, trees and lettering are all fondant.
