The cake looked different in my head, but I am pretty happy with it overall. I had made a cute cake board to look like a blanket, but then I realized the yellow from the cake and the yellow of the cake board clashed too much, so I scrapped the idea. The shoes are gumpaste and the bottle is made from candy melts. I need more practice using the chocolate molds.

I was asked to make a cake that closely resembled the bride's shower invitation (as seen in picture.) Lemon cake torted with strawberry cream cheese. BC with fondant embellishments (flowers and pearl border.) My BC crusted very quickly so I'm not thrilled with the overall texture - had I known it would crust that fast I would have finished the surface differently.

I finally got the chance to make the gumball machine cake. I think I used each and every gumball machine cake on cc as inspriation for mine, but I want to give a special thank you to jkalman who sent me directions. I had some problems getting the fondant on the cake and it started to settle so I wasnt completely satisfied with the outcome of the cake. However the people I made it for really seemed to love it.

Butter cake covered in crusting BC. The face is MMF. This cake gave me some grief. I'm not sure if I liked the butter cake. It was very crumbly and the crusting BC crusted on me very quickly. I should have tried using MMF instead and probably will when/if I do another one. But my customer was pleased, so that's all that matters. But thank you CC members for your inspiration and also for the tutorial I found on how to do it. (Sorry, but I forgot the url and her name.)

I made this cake for my dad who just retired. He loves to fish...and now he will have more time! I looked at many fish cakes on cc, but my original inspiration came from jamiet's cake. I used 3/4's of a 10 inch square cake and carved. It is covered in fondant and painted with luster dusts. It is all edible except for the wire I used for the lure. Overall I am happy with the way it turned out, but I would do a few things differently next time!! I think my dad liked it anyway! Thanks for looking!

It took the customer a few minutes to convince me that her call wasn't a prank and that the name of the bird she wanted made into a cake was real and not a joke! Carved choc pound cake, vanilla bc, covered in fondant with rice crispie head. Board accents were colored coconut and fondant leaves. TFL!

I made this for my son's 5th birthday. I used a toy fire truck and some pictures from the internet for inspiration. I also looked at nearly every fire truck cake on cc! I carved the cake from a 9x13 and covered it in fondant. All of the details are fondant except for the ladder which is royal icing. I wanted to add some more little details, but I was just too tired to do anymore.

This Whimsical Tilapia fish was for a good friend of ours whom is a Tilapia Fish Farmer. It was for his birthday and went along with a cupcake tower of about 6 dozen cupcakes. The cake was stacked and carved from an 8" square, so he is about 4" tall and wide, and i added rice krispie treats to his head and tail, which makes him about 14" long. He is covered in satin ice fondant tinted grey and his fins and tail have tylose powder added so that it would harden quickly. The fish is dry dusted with luster.

I made this for my son's boy scout cake auction. I looked at a lot of giant cupcakes here, but ended up be most inspired by a cake done by debbiedoescakes that I found on the internet. I think it fetched $43 for the boy scouts.

This is another cake I did for my son's boy scout cake auction. This is the 2nd time I have made this cake. Originally I was inspired by ellepal's design. A fun and easy cake to make! The cake went for $51 at the auction for the boy scouts!

This was part of a collage of cakes I was making for a surprise 40th. The birthday girl learned of the party the day before, freaked out, cancelled the party and here I am with the cakes!! My own fault for not getting a signed contract. I donated to a local nicer restaurant so maybe it will serve as good PR! Sculpted pound cake, all fondant accents. Patent leather look was done with piping gel.

This was for my neighbor's father. He sells Cub Cadet lawn mowers where he works, and we thought this would be a fun cake for him for Father's Day. Hope you like it.

Copied from a great CC member - littlebits - and were very happy with the result - making the head is not easy on a sculpted cake!

I made this for my cousin's daughter. Her favorite colors are pink and purple. I didn't realize how TALL Barbie is until I was making the cake for this. I didn't want to buy the pan for this so I sculpted one to fit. I don't get many requests for "girly" cakes since I have two sons. BTW, on the front of the dress in the centers of the flowers are tiny handmade pearls. I don't know if they showed up very well in the picture, but I thought they were a fun touch. I hope you like it.

I made this for a baby shower. I first saw it done by Kitagirl on cc, then saw it on another website called "imaginative icing." I didnt realize how long it would take to put the wooly swirls on! And there was a LOT of fondant that went into this little cake!! It was carved from round cakes.

I've done one pirate ship previously, so I thought I'd try doing one with less details and almost totally out of buttercream this time. Thanks karennayak for all your help!

This is my first, no strike that, 2nd doll cake! I had problems with the first
one and I had to redo everything from rebaking to reicing! But
thank you everyone who helped me through this disaster! We learn
through our mistakes...right? That's what I tell myself to get through
the frustration! I did not use the wondermold, I carved the shape from stacked rounds and I added a nice bow to her back that isnt pictured in the photo.

I sculpted these frogs out of fondant - it was so much fun. The bow is also fondant. This was my Wilton Course 3 finale cake. The instructor didn't mind that I didn't use flowers to cascade...
