Cupcakes for my son's end of the year class party. I had a totally different design planned, but we had a power failure at my house for 5 hours when I was supposed to be decorating these and my daughter's graduation cake so I had to change my designs due to time constraints. Ugh!!!

This was for our pastor and his wife who have been assigned to a different church. It's scratch coconut cake w/buttercream, a modeling chocolate boat, and a gumpaste sail. I also made enough vanilla sheetcakes to cut in the kitchen and feed 300 people!

I made this fondant sailboat to place on a cake my husband's aunt made. Originally she called me the afternoon before & asked if I could make the cake! I agreed to do a sailboat decoration though & quickly looked through cc pages for inspiration. Found the "Ahoy there!" entry into the Nautical/Sailing Cake Contest but don't know who made it. I copied it pretty closely, it's so cute I think!

I made this cake for a friend of mine who's boyfriend's birthday was in June. She gave me a picture of his actual sailboat the Fin and Tonic and I duplicated as much as I could into this cake. The was rolled in fondant after being carved to look like a sailboat. All the decorations are made from fondant and gum paste mix and then painted with either petal or luster dust. When my friend saw it she loved it!!!!

This was a sour cream pound cake with buttercream filling. This was covered in MMF which was handpainted with food coloring then accented with buttercream for the water. The sailboat was fondant, the poles were lollipop sticks covered in tinfoil and the sails were made out of fondant. We accented the cake with white chocolate seashells. All in all we were very happy with the way it turned out.

This is a 12" round topped by a 9" round. Both sections were torted, which made them taller. They are covered with marshmallow fondant with gumpaste and buttercream decorations. I owe a very special thank you to TamathaV for the wonderful train idea and for giving me detailed information. I hope I made you proud! The train and plane are both made from gumpaste.

Traveled to Michigan to do this cake for my friend's baby shower. Baked all the cakes in my kitchen and made all the buttercream beforehand. Then did all decorating in her church's kitchen until 2am. Not as perfect as I wanted, but she adored it and it was everything she wanted and more. So that was all that really mattered in the end!
