"Wood" is fondant strips with grooves dragged across. Buttercream "bubbles" and colored piping gel "water." Rubber duckies are toys.....just not that adventurous yet! Thanks to everyone on CC for ideas and tips!

My take on the rubber ducky in the tub cake. Thanks to all the other great CC'ers for inspiration. Everyone loved how it turned out. I only wish I'd had more piping gel for the water--next time.

This cake kind of developed as I went. Started out with the duck based on the decorations and everything else fell into place as I went.

Did this for a friend at work who kept telling people all month that "all she wants for her birthday is for her bathroom renovations to be completed."

They weren't.

We gave her this instead.

Bathtub made of RKT pressed into a loaf pan, carved and covered in fondant. "Impaled" on 4 wooden dowels hidden in the legs. Bubbles around the rubber duck are tapioca!

Had fun with this. Super-easy to make, but wish I'd had time to do a little "soap on a rope", curved shower head, shampoo bottles, etc. I'd made piping gel for the water and left it in the saucepan on the stove to cool down, but hubby threw it out when he was doing my dishes. Used blue buttercream instead. Couldn't be mad at him.

This cake was made for a baby shower. It is an 8 inch, 3 layer vanilla with vanilla butter cream, covered with fondant. Polka dots and bubbles are fondant. The bubbles are painted with a glaze to give the realistic look. I sculpted the ducky on top with rice krispie treats, then covered with fondant. It was a lot of fun to make and was a BIG hit!! I also made the cupcakes that are in the 3rd photo.

This was a last minute cake order (therefore the toy duckies and "it's a boy" stick - I usually don't put things that aren't edible on my cakes). Just happened to have an extra cake frozen - Rainbow cake covered with cream cheese icing. Thanks to all the inspiration on CC for this cake : )

I've done this design before. It's pretty simple, especially since I was able to find the chocolate ducks on sale at HyVee before Easter! But, I like to compare the photo of this cake with the photo of the other same cake and see how much my smoothing and stacking skills have improved in the past year! The cake is WASC and buttercream with MMF bubbles dusted with shimmer. Ducks are chocolate, bought at Hyvee.

I love all of the rubber ducky in a tub cakes here on CC, and knew it would be perfect for my best friend since she's obsessed with rubber duckies. However, she lives far away, doesn't eat cake, and didn't have a baby shower! So on a recent trip to visit her and the new baby, I packed some supplies (cake pan, some fondant, etc.) and made her made her a ducky cheesecake.
Chocolate swirl cheesecake, cookie sticks attached with melted chocolate, some blue sugar for the "water", fondant towel and soap, bubbles are tiny pearl candies, and the rubber ducky is made of chocolate (bought at the store during Easter candy season). TFL!

Here's yet another version of the rubber ducky cake - but that's the theme that was chosen. It's a 12" square vanilla cake with buttercream inside and out. I would have prefered it be fondant covered because I'm not very good and smoothing buttercream! The tub is RKT. All other decorations are fondant or gumpaste. Thanks for looking.

3-d duck cake all carved, head is rkt, they were using plastic ducks with pink baby headbands on them for decorations so I replicated that in cake form.

The fondant is a little lumpy as it was about 95 degrees that day and I had an AWEFUL time getting the fondant on the duck!

This was done to match the theme of the shower..they had gotten rubber duckies like the one on top for centerpieces, and favors. I took the picture of it, and made one from rice crispie treats, and covered in fondant...love how he turned out...her other request was polka dots and stripes...they loved it...

This was only my second cake using fondant. I was nervous that it wouldn't turn out right, but it ended up looking pretty good! The idea is from Wilton.

Cupcakes I made to go with the rubber duck cake for a friend's son's 1st birthday. The ducks on top were made with candy melts/molds, except the one at the bottom which has a duck candle for the birthday boy!

Inside is white cake with chocolate hazelnut mousse and chocolate buttercream. All decorations are MMF (even Mr. Ducky!), with luster dust on the bubbles to make 'em shiny. Bad piping is all me =) Thanks to all the CC decorators for the inspiration/incredibly cute idea! I wouldn't have thought of this on my own.

Tub is carved from WASC and covered in MMF. All bubbles, ducks, and babies are MMF and gumpaste.

This cake was for a friends birthday. I used a loaf pan for the cake and covered the sides in fondant. The top (water) is blue buttercream. The cake flavor is cherry cola!
Thanks for all the good ideas CC members!

This was actually my daughter's 15th birthday cake (she loves rubber ducks) but I think it would be an adorable baby shower cake for twins. 3 layer White cake with BC icing. The panels are Hershey bars turned backward. I used a Pampered Chef orange peeler to etch the wood grain into the chocolate. The large duck is a 3D hollow white chocolate Easter candy manufactured by Palmers. The small ducks are Wilton candles.
