This cake was made for my best friend Carolyn. She LOVES to shop and her favorite purchases are hats, purses and shoes. This was a carrot cake with peach buttercream frosting and fondant for the accents. She absolutely loved it.

Buttercream icing and fondant accents. I let the fondant pieces dry on a cookie sheet before adding them to the cake, but that was a mistake. I should have made the fondant pieces and added them right away. I used a cobblestone texture mat to make the crocodile texture in the buttercream. I dipped the impression mat in watered down brown food color before pressing it onto the cake. That really added to the texture, I think. Crumpled parchment rolled over fondant makes a great leather texture.

This is my purse cake that I made. I was nervous to make this cake, but the instructions on how to make a purse cake were so easy and simple to follow. This was a three layer vanilla cake with banana cream pie filling, buttercream frosting, and fondant accents.
It was really funny. I wanted to use the "Viva paper towel method" on it, but only had cheap paper towels that were heavily embossed. You can slightly see the print. It made it look like textured leather.

Vanilla cake with layers of buttercream and rasberry filling. Fondant accents. Gumpaste flowers. Made for the grand opening of a chic new salon that is decorated with zebra and cheetah prints.

Inspiration from several cakes on CC. Thanks!

8" double layer cake (on the side) slightly sculpted - used my textured roller on fondant to get the floral pattern on the purse, dusted slightly w/ luster dust. Strap just ribbon. This was a last minute decision on this design, but it was fun! Done to replicate clients invites to a little girls purse party.

Fondant over buttercream with fondant decorations. The purse is a 4'square carved into a purse. It's the first time I did a stand up purse out of cake.

My best friend's boyfriend ordered this cake for her for her birthday. She wanted the actual purse, but he said it was too expensive, so had a cake made to look like it. She loved it. Cake was marble with buttercream, and MMF accents.

What a job!! The purse is pumpkin spice with cream cheese icing and MMF. The shoebox is yellow cake with buttercream icing and MMF. The shoe is gumpaste. The shoe took about 6 tries to get this one and although it is nowhere near perfect, I can live with it. I want to especially thank TToomer, socake and boonenati for all of the instructions and help with making this cake!!

I looked at all the pictures on here to get my inspiration. Thanks, guys! The cake is covered in sugarpaste (I mixed in some chocobake for the dark brown) The design was painted freehand using gold luster dust and clear vanilla. I used just a tiny bit of brown color to get the cream colored parts.

Very first purse cake with the initials of the B'day girl. She loved it so much, that she doesn't want to eat it. It is still sitting in her kitchen. I don't understand some people.

Shoe/Shoebox & Purse cake. Had lots of problems with crumbs in the buttercream so next time I will crumb coat while the cake is still frozen. I learned a lot with this one so hopefully the next one will look better.

This was done for a last minute cake for my cousins purse party. I happened to have the correct colors already mixed up in butter cream. Its a little sloppy compared to my usual standards - but it was fun.

Thanks!

This was my second attemt at purse cake the first one broke in half. It is hard getting a big cake to stand up. I covered cake with crusting butter cream and fondant accents. The cake was for two girls so I put name on each side and gave them their own little cake in front.

This cake is for a really good friend's daughter. It was a last minute cake. All I was told was the girl wanted a chocolate purse. This is the chocolate pound cake II recipe from this site. I guess all turned out well. There were a few issues during the process. I wanted to do more, but had to adapt due to time. Thanks for looking. This is my first purse cake.

This is my first attempt at a purse cake. It was commissioned by a lady I work with. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out but I've learned some things for next time.

This was my 2nd attempt at a cake and while I was pretty pleased with the way it came out, I certainly learned a lot about what not to do. For example, when stacking a cake like this, it's best to not let the fondant drape over the sides or the icing from the center of the base cake will probably ooze out from the weight during traveling for the delivery. All over your lap.
