Both cakes are iced smooth with buttercream. The design on the top of the main cake was done to duplicate the plate for the birthday girl's theme. All accents are done in fondant. Accompanying purse is accented with a fondant handle and heart.

I made this for my niece. She loves horses, since her cakes for the last 3 years have had horses on them, we decided to do something a little different. This is a replica of one of her favorite purses. I loved the look on her face when she saw her cake.

I made this for my daughter Stephanie who just turned 12, she is at that 'inbetween' age when she has outgrown fairies and butterflies and I felt the need to make something a wee bit more grown up for her. It's all rolled fondant but the colour is a bit wrong, it was bright fuchsia pink and lime green. I knew I had a winner when her friends announced it was 'cool'!!

Here's my first purse cake, made of all MMF. I made it somewhat by following the directions in the article here, and borrowed a lot of ideas from other CC'ers pictures.

I made this for a PTO event at my dd's elementary school, using briansbaker's tutorial (thankyou!). I think it came out okay for my first time. I've never done any carving before, now I can't wait to try again. Vanilla caramel cake, buttercream frosting and filling, white chocolate fondant accents

This cake was a lot of work and a lot of fun. It's a 10" square cut in half and stacked on end. Covered in all MMF. Logos in edible marker. Zipper is MMF painted with gold luster dust and vodka. I used a lot of fellow CC'er's cakes for inspiration, thanks guys! It's for an 18 year old girl's birthday, I hope she likes it!

This was a cake made for my niece to match a purse that I bought for her birthday. Started off as a standup purse but had problems with the fondant flap tearing so I had to lay the purse down at the last minute and put camouflage on the bottom. The pic is not so good but my niece loved it. The chocolate makeup accents were purchased pre-made at World Market.

My cousin was turning 16 and I surprised her with this cake. She is such a little priss and we always called her Marissa the Prissa so it just seemed perfect. She LOVED the cake! That was my first purse cake so I think I did ok.

Two days and a back ache later... Clutch bag is a fruit cake and gift box is a simple vanilla & almond sponge cake. The inspiration was from various cakes posted here, so ... thanks to all who wittingly and unwittingly contributed.

Okay, so who's heard of putting candy corn in a leather bag? Me either, but I got a request for a chocolate cake with candy corn incorporated into it someway and since I like making boween's make-up purse cake :-)...why not? :-)

Birthday girl is a grown woman whose mom used to always make her a chocolate iced cake with candy corn when she was growing up.

This is my take on a purse cake. Instead of the famous LV insignia, I used the birthday girl's initials. Painting on the pattern was very tedious and frustrating, but overall I think it came out pretty well.
Thanks for looking!

This cake was for my sister's bridal shower. This was all firsts for me, first time making the cake flavors, first time making a shoe, first time making a shoe box and a sache (sp). The shoe box cake was key lime cake with white chocolate mousse and crushed graham cracker filling. The sache was a gluten free chocolate cherry cake with whipped chocolate ganache filling.

This was entered in the first specimen competition in Tulsa. I came in 3rd because the wrist band was too heavy. I knew it was, but I was out of time. Anyway, I was told that the Orchid Society said that I had the most botanically correct orchid. Good Enough!

Did this purse cake for a friend's DD. Chocolate fudge cake with hazelnut chocolate filling and buttercream icing. The flap and handle are fondant dusted in pearl luster dust and the flowers are leftover Wilton class royal flowers.

This cake was one disaster after the next. Out of the sheet pan it broke into 20 pieces and had to be glued back with icing and it only got worse from there. I was dissatisfied with the purse decorations and wiped them off a couple times and finally settled with the doodles that it has, but they look sloppy to me too. BUT, the women LOVED it. They took pictures with their own cameras and just raved and raved.

My friend Mo's daughter is having her sweet 16 party today with all her friends. I have the honor of doing her cake. She has recently discovered MAC makeup (her aunt sells it and her mom wears it) and has also discovered the wow factor of high heels. I incorporated these factors into designing her cake. Everything is edible except the makeup... it's real MAC. The shoe is solid chocolate with MMF and silver luster dust detail work and the makeup bag is cake covered with MMF and imprinted with a quilting mat, also painted with luster dust detail work. The White icing on the base cake is buttercream. SWEET 16 BRE!!!!
