I was more of a consultant on this cake than anything. It was a joint effort with my sister with her imagination. For her daughter's birthday, she wanted a pillow cake with a crown on it. We succeeded with the pillow but the crown we made of gumpaste didn't hold up so we laid it down instead of 3D. My niece was pleased with it though. One layer is lemon cake, one layer is strawberry cake and it has Twinkie filling with fondant decorations.

The diamond is white chocolate and brushed with super pearl. The band is findant/gumpaste and brushed with super gold. The pillow is covered with MMF and airbrushed with super pearl. This was for a 12 year old's bday party. They were having one of those solve a mystery parties and it had something to do with a diamond ring.

I made this for a Silpada party and took my cue for the GP jewelry from pieces in the catalog. The cake is red velvet with choc BC filling and choc MMF painted with a mix of black and super pearl dust. I used an impression roller for the texture on the pillow. Thanks for looking.

The client saw the other pillow cake I did and wanted it replcated in sparkly purple and with gold accents. So I did the Tiara out of RI and the cake was a 12 in. sq. carved into a pillow and covered in purple fondant. Used disco purple dust to make it sparkle.

Triple chocolate espresso cake with chocolate espresso ganache. Covered in satin ice fondant. Used 10" square for bottom and two 6' rounds for cup. First attempt at carving a cake. I admire all of you cake carvers. Made for DS birthday. She loves cappachino, coffee and relaxation. Fun cake to make. Next time I will read the tutorial for a pillow first, not after. HAHA

This is the first pillow cake I have tried. It is for my niece's tenth birthday. There are several things I would do different next time, but I think it turned out ok. The bottom is 10" sq WASC and the top is 8" sq chocolate.

I made this for a clients daughter's birthday. Both pillows are chocolate butter cake with cookies and cream filling. All fondant and gumpaste accents. I made a replica of the surprise diamond necklace she was receiving that night. Thanks for looking and inspiring me.

I made this for my sister's 11th birthday. It's confetti cake covered in choc. icing. Then covered by fondant and painted blue with fondant accents. Tiara and septor are made of royal icing. And please don't laugh, but this is my first ever try at a pillow cake. There's plenty things wrong with it, but the birthday girl was happy. Thanks for looking

This is the same cake that I have put up before, but with a different color theme. This bride wanted a fall color scheme. Also, the book is covered in fondant this time whereas before it only had a page on the top of gumpaste.

Made this for the quilt show (for the ladies "coffee time" ... I think, that's what they were going to do with it.) Based it of a quilted pillow they had. All buttercream. Used sugar sprinkles (that kind of look like salt in this pic! Opps!)

Here is my other entry for the NC state fair. All fondant over dummies. Thanks to Ginger08, hope22023, missyek, emmascakes, and others who posted beautiful pillow cakes that gave me great ideas. Thanks especially to missyek for the tiara pattern, and to adawndria for help deciding colors on that top pillow (by the way that top pillow is ivory and silver - it looks a little yellow beause of a yelow light shining down on it where I was taking the pic!).

Made this cake for my daughter's 20th birthday. It didn't turn out too bad. Thank you for the use of the tiera template by spottydog and the tutorials by carrielynnfields and missyek. These helped greatly with my first pillow and tiera construction. The tiera turned out to be alot easier than I thought it would be. My daughter put the tiera on her head and busted it in to a million pieces. Butter pecan cake with bc icing and covered in fondant with a few unedible rhinstone pieces.

Thank you to saj_stuf who made this cake first, I wanted to try a pillow cake but as I am new to decorating I was intimadated. I saw saj_stuf's cake and thought it was beautiful and set out to try it. Not bad for a first time and the royal icing tiara didn't even break. Thanks for looking.

A pillow carved from a 10" square cake. Done for my Stepdaughter's 9th birthday party. It is covered in fondant and all decorations made with fondant. It is hard to see but the imprints in the fondant was made by using Texture Plates for paper crafts...

Fondant covered pillow cake with gum paste shoe. There are a few fondant jewels and curly-cues as well. This was my first time ever making a shoe and it was an experience. The first two shoes broke but this one held up very well. Especially since I had to pack it up and fly with it. So I'm glad it all turned out in the end. Thanks for taking a look! :)

Here's a cake inspired by Missyek. Thanks for all your help. Had a tough time with the pillow...and then when I luster dusted it...it showed stuff I didn't realize was there. Anyway, tfl. OHH...and my icing tiara broke. I didn't make 2 thinking it would be easy to repair, but mine shattered! :(

This was another cake done last week just for practice -- I was inspired by all of the fabulous pillow cakes on CC! Fondant covered 8" Styrofoam carved into a pillow shape and impressed with diamond cookie cutter -- highlighted with luster dust -- hearts painted with gold luster dust & alcohol--- tassels made with fondant & gumpaste. (Oh, and I finally learned how to watermark my photos so anyone with questions about how to do that can PM me)
