This is my first wedding cake and the first time covering a round cake with fondant. The bride wanted a simple cake with roses the colour of her dress cascading down the side. This was not simple but I learned a few things!

This is another masterpiece by my mother. A three tiered butter-cream beauty with hundreds of handmade pale peach stephanotis flowers. Then finished off with the light sage green drop strings, fountain, and fresh florals underneath.

This is a special request from a friend in Maryland for his wifes birthday (yah, right). It is a 1/4 sheet double layer carrot cake, with a BC Cream Cheese icing. He has been craving it every since Memorial Day when they were last here.

It is on a 6 hours road trip, in a cooler with some ice.

I made this as a gift for a friend's birthday on Sunday. She loves the color peach and said she hadn't ever had a "feminine" birthday cake before. I had a couple of problems with it along the way, but I think she will enjoy it. Thanks for looking!

Wedding cake for friend's wedding, july 2006. Peach fresh roses (I prefer not to stick roses directly into cake, for the record) on a round cherry chip cake, with cream cheese icing and filling. This cake is 16, 12, 8, and 5 inch layers. I also made two plain half sheets for a total of 250 servings.

I made this for a celebration for a church. It is a yellow cake with buttercream icing. It took a while to make all the roses but it turned out very nice.

The bride asked for this copy of the red & white heart cake from the U.K. company "Have Your Cake And Eat It" (www.haveyourcakeandeatit.org) but in her colours of peach & ivory. I did her version using buttercream to be lighter, but MAN is it hard to ice heart shaped cakes! I'm just not used to it. I don't even have the pans, so all the layers were cut by hand using 3 patterns. Feather boa as the topper was okay, but I didn't plan it out very well. Forgot that would stick to the icing b/c not fondant! Ick!

I love this cake. Even though it is obviously done by a beginner, I just Love the swirls and the peachy petunias. This was my final cake for wilton course 3! I made the petunias out of royal icing, and I'm especially proud of the cake topper, made with petunias, tulle and styrofoam.

Really nervous about doing a tiered cake, but it was for I was asked by my family to make the cake for my Aunt's 90th Birthday. Family's are forgiving so I thought I would try this cake. Here is the cake. I thought it called for and old fashioned delicate style and the handkerchief and peach roses (Her favorite color) seemed to fit the bill. Both layers are Vanilla cake.. bottom layer is raspberry filled and the top layer was pineapple cream cheese filled. Covered with buttercream and overlayed fondant.

Buttercream with peach petunias. I tried duplicating a cake out of the 2006 Wilton Yearbook. I guess I'm one who follows directions too closely. The instructions said 3/4", 1-1/4", etc. up to 2-1/4". Dummy me, I should have realized they were too long and centered them down the side of my cake. Oh well, live and learn. I also should have made the ball tip and iced the strings upwards. Overall I am pleased with the way it turned out. I'm really sad the classes are over. I had a great instructor!

My good friend Cathy has three sons and never gets anything "girly." For her birthday I decided to treat her to a flowery cake, so I coordinated it to match the plates and napkins for her party. The result is this 6" triple layer chocolate cake with chocolate BC filling. Iced in white BC with BC decorations. Thanks for looking!

I did this one for a cake raffle at work. It is an almond/butter cake with brandy syrop. I used almond bc and chocolate fudge for the details. The BC was supposed to be "copper" but it turn out to be more of a peach tone. I have to thank jsmith for the inspiration.
Thanks for looking!

These were my very first halfway decent cakes. Before this, all I knew about was boxed cake, canned frosting, and store brought cakes. The (cut) green one is the very 1st; made 9/26/05. The second was made 2 days after. Wow, it's only been a little over a year since I 1st began. This was way back when I was using the wilton fondant. I am so glad I learned about mmf. I wouldnt be where I am today without all of you guys at CC! I still really dont know how all of this got started but im glad it did.

This is the first two tiers of a wedding cake, which also has an identical cake, minus the roses and ribbon as a cutting cake, because the groom didn't want anything more than a 2 tiered cake.
It's a 10 inch and 7 inch chocolate and white chocolate mud in alternating layers filled with whipped ganache and covered in avocado green fondant with sugar roses and piped detail in avocado green royal icing.

I am SOOOOO glad to be done w/this cake! I got the design from the '97 WYB. There are 15 charms hanging from the middle layer. Each charm has a pic of the birthday girl at 1yr old, 2 yrs old, etc up to 15. The family made the topper, it was so pretty! This pic doesn't really do justice to the cake, but you get the idea. :)

Here's a close-up of the 'charms' and flowers on the cake. The white hearts behind the pictures are from Wilton, they are like a large plastic locket and I cut each one in half to make 2 charms.

Here is a birthday cake I did for someone at work, please give me your honest opinons. When I got finished with this cake the back bottom layer decided to fall apart. I never had that problem before, and it was a Duncan Hines mix. I have read so much about everyone else's cakes falling apart and it finally happened to me. But I fixed it the best I could. Thanks for looking.
