This was so funny. I wanted him to have a top hat but wasn't really sure how to make one. So if you have ever made one of these 3D creatures before you know there is always leftover batter so we made cupcakes. Well my fiance and I put our heads together and came up with a cutting a hole in the cupcake and plopping it on like a hat.

This cake was a chocolate cake with a vanilla cream filling. It is covered in creamcheese icing with fondant on top of that. The rim of the hat are multiple cake boards covered in fondant. The shamrock is a glazed cookie on a stick.

Ingore the tin foil cake board. I didn't relize how big this was going to be and couldn't find anything to put it on. The first cake I ever remember my mom making was when I was about 4. It was a clover made from the heart shaped pans and had pretty purple flowers in the middle.

Little "Boxes of Luck" that I gave out to my office mates. Unfortunately I ran out and didn't have enough for everyone :(
Mint fondant clovers (some boxes had 4 leaf clovers) on buttercream, boxed with sugar cookies. My 5th attempt at poured icing so I was up late icing each individual cake.

This is actually a birthday cake for two friends who very much identify with their Irish heritage, and whose birthdays are around St. Patrick's day. Gumpaste and fondant decorations. The light green fondant is also brushed with gold luster dust to give it more depth. I'm so pleased with this cake! It's an Italian Cream cake inside with cream cheese icing. Probably the best cake I have ever tasted.

I had so much fun making these. It brings back memories of playing with play-doh as a kid. Funny thing ...... it made me think how many things (mostly animals) I used to make back then..... why not recapture my youth but just use fondant?!?!?! TFL

Sugar cookies with royal icing. I think the leprechaun sliding down the shamrock looks like it joined the witness protection program, LOL....that is what happens when cookie decoratoring goes bad....the cookies try to go into hiding. The seesawing leprechauns look like the blues brothers, LOL. When you don't get the eyes right, just make them into sunglasses.....haha. It was an interesting night of decorating.

Got the idea from several pics posted on here. Thanks all!!!! I made these for my little guys preschool class. They were a hit. I wish I had more time to spend on them though. Luckily, preschoolers aren't harsh critics! lol. Chocolate cupcakes frosted in buttercream.

I made this cake for my daughter's cake auction at school. Unfortunately, the cookies toppled out on the way there and then the auctioneer (my father-in-law) dropped it as he picked it up to auction it. The cake was iced in buttercream, cookies in royal icing. I used a 10" ring mold pan, the cookies were attached to floral wire with white chocolate and stuck into foil wrapped floral foam. Next time I might try using an upside down flower pot over the foam to steady it more.
