I'm pretty new at this. This is my first mother's day cake and my third cake overall. I am a self taught student. I'm not one who likes spending money to learn to do something I feel I can teach myself although I'm sure I could benefit. I cannot figure out how to do roses and I hear they're very easy.

First try at a full buttercream cake. Got a few raised eyebrows from other people in my course while icing the green coat. Could have used a few more daisies, perhaps.

I got the idea from one of the Wilton class books. The flowers are fondant, the icing is buttercream. I love the colors.

buttercream covered with gumpaste flowers and trowel. Fondant covered rice krispie treat flower pots with crumbled choc. cake "dirt" Hose starts at a gumpaste spicket at bottom of cake and winds up and around cake to create the border. Wrote message with "water" from hose. Made for a gentleman's 90th birthday who loves to garden.

I did this for a friend of mines grandmother. She just wanted something with flowers. I used a mixture of roses, morning glories, and violets. I used my smallest oval pan to put the shape on the top of the cake. I then added the lace. Thanks for looking!!

This is one Tier of a Wedding Cake I made. I thought this would make a Very Pretty Birthday Cake or cake for other occassions.
The hearts I made...using Wiltons White Chocolate Melts, and colored purple with wilton food coloring paste. then I poured it in the Heart Candy Molds I had, let them harden, popped out and trimmed....and they made wonderful decorations for my cake! I used 2 different Shades of purple to trim the cake!

Was having a hard time deciding how to decorate this so went with a VERY generic design. Yellow cake with buttercream frosting. Mom liked it a lot.

Scratch chocolate cake, chocolate ganache filling, 7 minute frosting. I love the way this frosting smoothes on...but is really not user friendly for making decorations, it just pulls too much....probably would need to switch to buttercream for that....or just use fondant/gumpaste decorations...has a nice, not so sweet flavor.

Covered in white fondant. Made bow loops in all different sizes and widths with bright fondant pack and pastel green. Made stars in 2 different sizes and put on wire. Then curled wire and put a fondant ball at the end. Got that idea from "Ace of Cakes". Thanks Duff!! Rolled up little balls of pastel green fondant for the border. That took forever but it looked awesome when I was done.

I made this cake for a Double-40th Birthday Party for 2 of my best friends Evelia and Aide. I didn't want to make an Over the Hill cake because my friends are always very happy people and I thought that a black and white cake it was going to be too boring and depressing for them. They loved the cake!!! The party was in October, so I used autumn colors.

This cake was made for my grandmother's 75th birthday, but it would have made a great mother's day cake as well. There has got to be 200 roses on this cake. The roses and the lattice arches were made from royal icing. I air brushed the roses to give them more dimension.
