All Buttercream. I copied this cake from MINIgirl last year. Her's is excellent! Her figure looks male. I made mine with a bun in "her" hair, just the way my daughter did when serving in the Marines. Thank you MINIgirl for such a great cake pic.

My daughter Jessica volunteered to serve in the Marine Corps' first officially declared Mortuary Affairs unit in Iraq. She has written a book describing the job she did with her platoon recovering and processing the remains of fallen soldiers. Please check out "Shade It Black-Death and After in Iraq" by Jess Goodell with John Hearn. Jessica has had many worldwide interviews with the media including Chris Hedges, BBC World, Russia TV, Spain, Ireland, Argentina, The Bob Edwards Show, Channel 4 News, among many others. She even has a song by George Hartner that you can hear on her website www.shadeitblack.com. She is now working towards her PhD in Counseling Psycology. I'm very proud of my daughter and the difficulties she has overcome and continues to deal with. I love you Jessica!

My son is destined for the Marine Corps and he wanted a special cake to share with his friends. This was my first attempt using a candy mold and I thank all the CC members who answered my many questions. It was really quite easy! Thanks for looking!

Peanut Butter Cake with Choc Buttercream. I made this for my daughter Jessica. It shows some of her past life as she works her way toward her PhD. Troll Doll, Maple Grove High School letters, Snorkeling, USMC, Glow Worm, LL Bean Backpack, her Book, her VW, Soccer, Basketball, Skiing, Camping, Running, & of course "Climbing the Ladder" with her Briefcase at the top! This was just a 9 x 13 cake, so everything was VERY tiny! All buttercream details.

This was done for my VFW's celebration of combined Marine Corps Birthday and Veteran's day. The white chocolate Iwo Jima statue is made from a mold I created. Each face has the emblem of a branch of the service (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard). The front is the VFW emblem.

This was made for my husband, who was in the Marine Corp and a police officer. I made his Glock out of krispie treats. I also made the fondant Bulldog look like our dog Belle, and the Bulldog is also the Marine Corp mascot. I hand-modeled the Marine Corp symbol out of fondant as well.
