I made this cake for a nephew when he graduated from basic training in the Marines. Not too happy with the gumpaste plaque but not talented enough to do the center of the logo freehand. TFL

This cake was made by myself and fellow CC member "Sneezie" as a gesture of our condolences for a local Marine who lost his life in Afghanistan because of a suicide bomber in late January. This was served at the luncheon following his funeral. The cakes are 14 & 12 hex, 8" circle (3layers) and a carved hat made from a 6 and 8 " round. The flag is fondant and is airbrushed.

I made this cake for a marine aquarium store that was hosting a frag meet. I made the clownfish, tang, and crab out of fondant and used black/blue edible food markers for the details. I made the seashells out of chocolate candy molds. The green algae and orange corals were made with royal icing. I used blue icing to ice the cake and purple and white icing for the bubbles. Brown sugar was used for the sand.

I did this as a raffle cake for a cake contest, that i helped host. The theme of the contest was Military Family and Life, so where I am stationed I have noticed a lot of woman who get pregnant and have their little ones while their husbands are deployed. I wanted to tie that into my cake design. TFL! CSM!

Not as clean as I would have liked, but all things considered (I don't work with fondant) I like the look. 14" hex is chocolate with cookies-n-creme filling covered in BC & fondant accents. 10" round is vanilla with cnc filling covered in BC. The inside is half red and half yellow - Marine Corps colors. The 2nd Battalkion and expert rifle badges are edible images, EGA is white chocolate with luster dust, everything else is fondant.

He was graduating high school and going into the Marines. His parents asked that the cake focus on the Marine aspect. I loved making the flag. I think I'll be making more in the near future.

My neighbor's son returned from boot camp, so I made him this cake. I made the sheet cake and used half of the soccer ball cake for the world. It's all fondant except the rope along the bottom and in the logo. I made the eagle by hand. I had planned on putting "Semper Fi" at the top, but ran out of room. I'll plan that better next time.
