Crown was made using two 8", two 10", and one 12" round. Mask was sculpted using fondant and painted with luster dust, and pieces of material were sown together and attached to the back of the mask to create the jester look.

I airbrushed the bottom half in blue and then went over it in purple because I wanted a very dark periwinkle blue. The I airbrushed the top in silver. I love this effect. I have done it before on cakes and am always very pleased with it!

lots of flaws in this one if you look close. I tried a bunch of new stuff on this one. I know I need to work on the fondant bow just for starters.

This was for a fabulous La Quinceanera / Sweet 16 Mardi Gras party. The cakes were displayed on six elevated plates, the largest cake was 14" and three layers inside. There were also two 10" cakes and three 6" ones. There were two sheet cakes that were served after the dinner and 200 cupcakes, covered in a bold pink buttercream and topped with a handmade fondant mardi gras mask.

I had to do a cake for my kid's spanish class and it had to follow a traditional mexican recipe, of course I had to add my own twist to that and so I added lime zest to the pastry dough then the cream cheese filling echoed with more lime zest, lime juice, chili pepper, (just a tiny bit) and grated fresh ginger, yum. different but very good. Then I added three crowns cut with my cake cricuit and dried over cones and a mardis gras mask that I hand cut from some marbled gum paste I had left over and then painted...i did the shoe to represent a custom in mexico of children placing a shoe on their porch full of hay for the wise men to feed their animals as they pass by, all in all everyone was happy with it and we made an A!
