A big thanks to ThanahThanh for the desgin idea. I made this for a firend at work. I remember back in Feb. she told me she collected masks and used to go to Mardi Gras all the time, so I thought this cake was fitting. She loved it.

I tried fondant and failed! The top all tumbled about an hour before my guests arrived! Everyone laughed but said the cake itself was good. Live and learn! Fondant needs to set more than 24 hours! ;)

Mardi Gras 30th Birthday cake. Based on a photo the birthday girl's sister sent me. I don't know whose design it was, and in searching around, I saw many versions of this.

I was planning on making some really cute grad cookies for my neice who is graduating from grade 8 and had a bunch of potential ideas on hand when my sister said the theme for the school party was going to be masqueride (sp?). A mom had a bunch of mardi gras masks that they could use for the party too. So I decided to abandon all other ideas and make something that would go nicely with the theme of the party, masks. I got this idea from numerous CC members mardi gras mask cookies, so thank you. I was able to use my heart cutter which was nice since i didn't have to buy a special cutter. Each cookie is unique, i just randomly piped till my heart was content.;0) All of them were dusted with gllitter. Vanilla cookie with antonia royal icing. Thanks for letting me share.

A Sweet 16 party. 2-tier cake with 100 cupcakes. Cake covered in fondant of course. I had air bubbles and even a tear, but it all got hidden thank goodness! Everything is edible except for the "for decoration only" glitter. This is my second 2-tier.

This was done for a Mardi Gras themed Sweet 16 party. They wanted purple, white, and blue colors rather than the traditional color scheme. Masks were purchased by the customer, and I added the detail work and feathers....
