I call this cake a "hostage" because although it looks like it's for Mardi Gras, this birthday cake was actually done in December and I just received it from the b-day girl (it's March!). Anyway, it's WASC, Pineapple and Chocolate Fudge cakes all filled with my BC and covered in MMF. The masks (1 of which is not shown), name and "17" are gumpaste. The beaded border and accents are all MMF. Sorry for the clutter, but I didn't take the pic. TFL!

This is the green mask I did for Joanna's hostage cake. I tried to get a better pic but this is all I could do, sorry it's so blurry. Made out of gumpaste with royal icing piping, dusted with aztec gold luster dust. TFL

My mom found this picture on the pinkcakebox website, so all I did was copy it. The mask is store bought, and the rest of the cake is fondant mixed 50/50 with rolled buttercream.

I made this for my grandfather's April Fool's birthday. The colors are not Mardi Gras, but the idea would be good for it. Another great way to use the stand-up bear pan by Wilton.

I am so excited about this cake! This is my second tiered cake, second try with fondant and first try with topsy turvy and making a cake topper! This was for me and my two best friend's Mardi Gras themed birthday party. It's banana's foster flavored with banana rum and buttercream frosting! Everyone loved it!!!

this was requested for a mardi gras themed birthday party for two ladies. The beads down the center are from 2007 Mardi Gras. (I used and will soon again live in New Orleans) I tried to make it look like the shirt was lifting up. Most is buttercream. The jeans and shirt and pasties are fondant. TFL!

This was for a Mardi Gras themed Quince party. Marble cake w/Satin Ice. It actually was a disaster: My daughter drove and I should have known better. Upon arrival at hall, to had slid OFF the back-right. Which is why the pic is from the left instead of dead center. lol.

The cake is hand painted with luster dust colors to add a sheen. The masks are made of gumpaste and the dusted with luster dusts also. The gold piping was painted to had a metallic look.

This is a cake I did for a combined 30th birthday. They wanted white chocolate icing with chocolate ganche filling and triple chocolate cake. It tasted really great but I am not sure I will make the white chocolate icing again. It was really hard to work with. The consistency was hard to pipe and there wasn't really a good way to thin it out without change the taste. It also didn't color easy either. That is why it looks a little tye dyed. But all in all I am pretty happy with the out come. The masks were made with gum paste and then colored with americolor soft gel paste thinned out with vodka and a little luster dust added. This one definitely had to had a few gray hairs to my head. It was all worth it because they loved it and it really did taste amazing! Thanks for looking!
