8" marble cake with chocolate filling. Sugarshack BC with Satin Ice fondant accents. Made this for my best friend- I wanted it to be fun and youthful! Completely inspired by Nunuk- only I used a different color scheme. My first loopy bow and ribbon roses- definitely need work! TFL!

A 10 inch marble (chocolate & vanilla) cake where the sex of the baby is a surprise! The cake is covered and filled in vanilla butter cream, then home made fondant and placed on a fondant covered cake board. The foot prints, question marks, borders, bow and gift tag are fondant. The date on the tag is the due date. (September, 2008)

This 10x4 round cake is iced in buttercream. Fondant bow loops dusted with pearl luster dust. A very fancy design that could be used for many occasions.

I've always liked the big present cakes in the background on Ace of Cakes and I finally had a reason to make one! This was a surprise for my neighbor's birthday, she loved it! It was my first loopy bow (the freebies are always my guinea pigs) and it was so simple to do I don't what took me so long to try it - It only had an hour to dry (50/50 MMF/gumpaste).

This is the cake I cut my teeth on earlier this week! I used cc icing for the first time, made my first loopy gumpaste bow, and played around with brush embroidery. I had to dowel and stack too, yikes! I learned so much on this one, mostly what NOT to do! I got my inspiration from a cake done by Thahn Thahn. Thanks for looking!

An 8 inch square double layer cake filled and covered with chocolate butter cream icing then home made fondant. The carnations, gift tag, and bow are hand made from gum paste. The pink on the carnations is edible powder and the sparkle on the bow is done with white pearl dust and vodka. November, 2008

Back View (which shows the vine work) of my sis' 35th B-Day Cake. Each tier is layered Chocolate & Pound Cake w/ BC & MMF - 7" & 9". Bow, vines, leaves, roses, loopy daisies all hand molded from MMF. My first attempt at a large size bow so it's a bit uneven but she loved it. TFL.

The two smaller gifts are 4 inch white butter cakes. All the icing is vanilla butter cream. The bows are fondant/gum paste and the snowflakes are fondant. December, 2008.

My friend saw my recent baby shower cake and said the top layer would be perfect for her daughter's 16th birthday. All she changed was the bow and dot color.

These buttercreamed sqs are stacked slightly off-set. The top tier has fondant molded lace medallions and bow loops. Each tier had a different design - triple dots; quilting and plain.

This is the biggest cake I've made. It was for a volunteer banquet at my church. It's far from perfect but I learned a lot and feel better prepared if I were ever asked to do a wedding cake (which I hope I'm not, atleast in the near future). This was also the first time to do a loopy bow. The tiers were a 14" square, 12" circle, and 8" square. All buttercream.

Didn't really have much to go on with this, friend just wanted a present cake for his mums 50th. First attempt at making a loopy bow and now I think I have gray hair! Just got some diamond cutters so thought I would make a checkerboard of sorts. Lustre dust on the diamonds which were lilac. I used roses to cover the joins in the rope at the bottom as I also thought it needed something. They were the same lilac as the diamonds and i brushed them with a little lustre as well. Some green leaves just for a bit more colour

Sorry about the poor quality picture :(
The 4 tiers are off-set square packages all iced in buttercream w/fondant loopy bows. This pictured cake was published in the British magazine "Wedding Cakes; a design source" some years ago.

I made this cake for a charity auction for the school I teach at. It is chocolate WASC with peanut butter filling and is covered with MMF. The bow is gumpaste. It was a lot of fun to make and I learned a lot. Thank you to the others who made cakes like this for their inspiration!

Just a quick cake for Easter since I signed up to bring dessert. By "quick" I mean it only took 4 or 5 hours LOL! I added some lemon curd and lemon zest to the buttercream which resulted in a pretty yellow color. I think I will leave the zest out next time though since obviously it left it looking "speckled." Just experimenting on family though! Iced in buttercream with fondant and gumpaste accents.

Wait!! Before you sigh and think, "oh, another picture of a zebra cake with a bow on it" and move on, listen to this! This was my very first zebra cake, my very first bow, and my very first time using gumpaste. See?? And you thought you'd seen it before! Cake is MFF, stripes are chocolate MMF, and bow is fondant/gumpaste. Thanks for looking!
