Here is my first yule log I made for a Christmas party. It is a chocolate sponge cake with white chocolate mousse filling and decorated with meringue mushrooms and sugared rosemary. I got the recipe from MarthaStewart.com but I omitted the coconut. It was a lot of fun and actually traveled very well. Thanks for looking!

this was my first attempt at a yule log. I'm pleased with how it turned out decoration wise. It's all BC. For the cake itself I used a chocolate cake with marshmellow filling and it was a bit dry. Can anyone recomend a good recipe for a jelly type cake?

I made this cake for a friend's annual bonfire party. It's chocolate stout cake, buttercream frosting, fondant flames and stones. The "sand" is crushed graham crackers. It was lots of fun to make!

This is my son's groom's cake from this past weekend. He's an avid duck hunter, he loves raccoons (RCA is a Louisiana Thing), so camouflage and a mallard duck were key elements of his cake! The cake platform is a slice of a log!

This was my final exam in one of my college classes. The trees are ice cream cones, and the cabin was a cookie cutter made from ginger bread.

This is for my FIL. His party is today and I hope he is pleased! He is a retired farmer. The picture on top is of his barn, and the little log house on the front is a Smokehouse he recently restored and is very proud of! The inspiration for this cake came from Sugarshack's farm cake. TFL.

I made this for my father-in-law for his bday. He plans on building a cabin soon and the land he purchased has wild hogs and deer, so that should explain the cake a little more. It's chocolate buttercream on the cake, RK log cabin, fondant animals, and roayl icing trees. The hunter was store bought...I couldn't pass him up when I noticed the gun had exploded on the end.

This one was really fun to make! Chocolate cake with vanilla/almond buttercream. Fondant and graham cracker tent. Fondant sleeping bag and pillow. Ice cream cone and pretzel trees, goober rocks, pretzel logs. Jellybean bugs. Thanks to all the CCers who posted their camping cakes. They gave me great ideas! TFL

This cake was done for a client whose husband practically lives at their deer lease. He catches hogs and hog-ties them instead of shooting them from a distance. She wanted him in the hog-tied position for his birthday and I was happy to oblige. This was my first attempt at figure modeling. I did the hog in gumpaste but found it too difficult so I switched to a fondant/tylose mixture to finish the others. Thanks to Aine2's great tutorials and also to my client for giving me the opportunity. My daughter, Abby, did a great job on the fishing pole, rifle, and ice chest. She didn't need a tutorial! This was a lot of fun to do.

This is a cake that I did for my husbands cousin's son. He was having a camping themed party along with a bonfire so with the help of CC I came up with this cake. The logs are fun size Twix bars and the "dirt" under them is a crushed graham cracker. The "rocks" around the campfire are chocolate covered peanuts.

Tinkerbell sitting on a log. Log is banana wasc with scratch strawberry filling. Iced in BC with fondant flowers and BC vines. My fondant tinkerbell fell on the ground, so I had to use a plastic one instead. Thanks for looking. And than you to cupcakeluv24 for the recipe!

Guy at work wanted a cake for his wife's birthday, old cabin with a porch in the woods, but wanted cake to be the cabin. I said sure I can do it!! This was the end result, I had a lot of trouble with the porch and roof, but overall I'm pleased with it. First time doing RI trees. Cake was vanilla carmel with carmel buttercream. Ran out of time so bench is plastic.

My MIL wanted a very small 6" yellow cake w/chocolate buttercream for her neighbors birthday, I was told he liked to fish. I already had the cat tails, rocks, logs, and flowers; I only had to make the fishing pole, bag, and dock. My husband laughed and said how do you fish with a waterfall. I thought the single layer 6" and 8" was much cuter than just a double layer 6" cake.

This was done for a one year olds birthday. Everything is edilble except the toy tractors and trucks. This was a yellow butter cake with bc frosting. The road is chocolate perils, the little "logs" are mini Charleston Chews, the dirt is ground up vanilla wafers, the "saw dust" is brown sugar with cinnamon (keeps the bs from clumping together), the "rocks" was candy coated chocolate. I really had a lot fun doing this cake.

French Vanilla cake with raspberry filling, buttercream icing airbrushed to look like bark. Cut ends are fondant with airbrush tree rings. Ax is copper pipe armature with RKT, modeling chocolate and fondant handle. Blade was the killer. Fondant cracked this morning. Modeling chocolate a disaster. Finally went with aluminum foil for weight and durability. Cake is traveling three hours to party for NC State forestry major who competes in lumberjack competitions.

Made for a lady that loves to fish and she was turning 65. They wanted it to say.....finally old enough.........because she now is a senior citizen! My mother-in-law made the fish, worms, worm bucket, turtle and cat tails.

2008 Yule Log. This is a sponge cake with an amaretto whipped cream filling. I also handmade the meringue mushrooms. A dusting of confectioners sugar makes a neat "snowy" effect. Also a dusting of cocoa powder on the meringue mushrooms makes a "dirt" effect. Add some real evergreen boughs and red hot "berries" for a nice holiday look.

DH brought this cake to a Boy Scout training program called Wood Badge. They don't actually do anything with wood in this class, so it's a bit of a joke between us. All fondant.
