Just made this one for my friends kid. She saw a similar cake on Flickr and asked me to re-create it.
The rock on top is was made with rice krispies treats and the wood is chocolate fondant. The figures are plastic toys from the store :)

This is my 1st topsy turvy! It looked awesome at home when I stacked it the correct way, was perfect smooth fondant and layers were all angled so neatly until I unstacked it for delivery and then disaster happened for this cake, I stacked it wrong at the party and it started crinkling before my eyes...It never fell though, I had a great support system thank goodness it was for my granddaughter and not a customer LOL

My second attempt at using fondant, my first attempt at making a topsy turvy cake. This cake was for my niece, she was very specific on how she wanted her cake to look, and she was thrilled that I was able to pull it off.

I wish I could find a better picture of this beautiful cake. This was a 5 layer cake that I did for my neighbors sweet 16. I smooth coated the entire cake in buttercream icing and then went over it again with more buttercream that I had 'fluffed' a little with some meringue to make it appear like clouds. I lightly dusted the cake with some purple dust. Curled the ribbon down the sides of the cake and topped it with a porcelain unicorn.

My first time trying to design something INSIDE the cake. The layers are supposed to be green, for grass, then a pot, with gold, and a rainbow coming up. Not perfect but it's better than I though I'd be for my first time :-)

This cake was tedious but a real crowd pleaser and the look on my daughters face was priceless. Making the frosting from scratch was so worth it. Yummy. Would love any feedback.

22 Tbs. salted butter, softened (about 3 sticks)
2/3 cup Crisco shortening
5-7 Tbs. heavy cream (start out with 5 Tbsp. and add more at the end if you need to thin it down)
2 tsp clear vanilla
2 pounds powdered sugar (about 8 cups)
1-3 Tbs. corn syrup

Combine butter and shortening in an electric mixture and mix until smooth and you don't see any lumps. Takes about 1 minute depending on how soft your butter is. Turn the mixer on low and add the vanilla. Next slowly stream in the cream. Then, turn the mixer speed up just until everything comes together. Turn the mixer down while you slowly add the powdered sugar. Scrape down the bowl to be sure that all the powdered sugar is mixed in well and then add the corn syrup 1 Tbsp. at a time, mixing until the frosting is of spreading consistency.

Chocolate Fudge Layers with Chocolate Buttercream & Milk Chocolate Ganache
This cake was for a friend (who also teaches at the same school as I)...she had been telling her family for weeks that she wanted them to order her one since they had slacked on her birthday the past few years. Her sis contacted me on FB and due to being so busy, it took me a few days to respond. In the meantime, Lydia emailed me ordering her OWN birthday cake because she thought they were not.. I wasn't sure if she was supposed to know her sis had asked, so I kept quiet. Her husband and sisters were actually planning her a surprise birthday party and...Lydia ordered her own cake since I stalled the delivery for a couple of days! (Thankfully, she's still my friend! lol)

6" Vanilla cake with strawberry filling and vanillabean buttercream. This was my first try layering the fondant, next time I will roll a bit thinner, but it was fun! My husband made the cupcake tower (he is the best!) The vanilla cupcakes are filled with strawberry filling and the chocolate with raspberry filling. Fondant flower cutouts and sugar pearls for decoration. The flowers are fresh orchids, I left about 1/2" of stem, put a toothpick through it and wrapped with floral tape and stuck toothpick into cake.

The cake is marble with banana cream filing. I made my own fondant using a recipe I found on Cake Central for the MMF and I'm in love with MMF. The taste is so much better than the store bought fondant. I'm going to keep experimenting but I'm pretty happy how it turned out.

This was my first attempt at a three layer cake; which I did for my daughters Sweet 16 party....Hollywood style. I used Marshmallow Fondant (see Yummy Arts tutorials...they are wonderful) I draped some Tuiling and wrapped it with faux pearls. I inserted a tube in the top to hold the beaded decorations.

For my daughter's 7th. My first go at wrapping a cake in chocolate. 3 layer fudge cake, butter cream between each layer and all over cake. Wrapped in a solid sheet of chocolate (I had to make it, no where to buy it here.). 7 REAL roses, ribbon top and bottom, twigs painted to match the ribbons. (This as a practice run with real flowers, in prep for a wedding cake June 4) Thanks for looking. :)

I made this for a young gal who has a thing for lime green, peace signs, and rainbows. I made a 6 layer cake (colors of the rainbow), filled and dirty iced with vanilla buttercream, and covered in marshmallow fondant. The loop bow and spirals were done with gum paste. TFL!
