The cherry blossoms (which are really from an apple blossom pattern) are made of royal icing, the branches are modeling chocolate and the character on top is made of chocolate (it means good luck, good fortune). I took much inspiration from other cakes here on CC. TYFL!

This cake is supposed to look like a piece of sushi. My daughter had a sushi-themed birthday party this year. The crab, avocado, carrots, cukes, ginger, wasabi, and nori are made from Duff fondant. The rice is buttercream, just piped on with a round tip. Cake is sitting on a shelf from a cabinet (covered with plastic wrap.)
The other pot is fake sushi made from brownies, dipped in chocolate & white sprinkles, then the fish is made from fondant. The center ones are marshmallows dipped in regular and white chocolate & sprinkles. The centers are melted chocolate.

3 Tier- 6",10",12" Layers, All Buttercream except the little red flowers which were purchased. The bride wanted buttercream to look like fondant because she liked the look of fondant, but not the taste...RIIIIGHT! If that was possible, most people wouldn't use fondant! I tried my best...

This shisha dog is a traditional Japanese symbol that is meant to bring in luck and peace, but keep out evil. This one is more of a comical version of a shisha dog. I wanted to keep the cake simple as the shisha took me awhile to make. The cake was vanilla with buttercream icing. I really had fun with this cake and I hope you all like it as well!

This birthday incorporated fondant sculptures of things that were very important to this special teacher. She taught music and musical theater for over 40 years, and we included figures for "Trial by Jury", "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", a small model of a favorite quilt that she made and Thai items, an elephant plaque and a fan that she loved, as she had lived there for 15 years.

for my little brothers 21st. My mum wanted me to do a dartboard, but he likes his fish so I thought this was way better!

Chocolate coconut sponge :) For the icing I mixed marzipan with sugarpaste. Tastes much better than sugarpaste with the addtional qualities of the marzipan. Sprayed it with a silver spray after for the sheen

This cake was custom made for my friends wedding, the bottom layer was neopolitan with chocolate buttercream 3 layers high, with a hand made wooden painted black lantern on top - these lanterns contain a flickering battery operated candle and authentic Japanese rice paper. The second tier has yellow cake with chocolate buttercream with another hand made lantern on top of that tier - flickering candle, all handmade. Top tier is all red velvet. Decor contains all handmade gumpaste branches, handmade gumpaste orchids, cherry blossoms of varying size with edible pearls, royal icing, etc. Very intricate structural system. Came out great and lanterns lit up the reception!

The customer ordered this cake for her boyfriend, who owns a tattoo shop. He was given a Japanese name by a Japanese tattoo master. A friend of theirs (also Japanese - but neither the customer or the boyfriend are) who works in the tattoo shop is staying with them, so she asked him to draw a design. He drew the outline and then she came round and, armed with my boys' colouring pencils, we decided on colours. I have to say that I haven't enjoyed doing a cake this much for a long, long time. I know it's very simple, but I LOVE how it's come out.

10 inch square cherry ripe mud cake, with dark chocolate ganache under clean white fondant, which was extended off cake and over board. The decoration was influenced by Okinawan Goji Ryu Karate, and shows a handmodelled Sensei Peter in his Zen garden, complete with bamboo and raked sand garden with pebbles. This was ordered by his students for his 50th birthday. Thanks for looking.
