for a 16 yr old who loves japanese symbols/culture, and wants to travel the world. cake incorporates all of her likes (music and cd's), and dreams, and the top tier is the same colors/pattern with her initials, just like the vanity plates on her new car! also- bottom 2 tiers were done in her favorite colors.

I had such a fun time making this cake! Sushi is MM wrapped in MMF and the rice are sprinkles. This was my first time covering a square cake and painting the woodgrain look and I really love how it turned out.

bakugan battle brawlers cake...a japanese anime the kids are all raving about
the cake doesnt look this "busy" in real life, in fact if you take the cards away from the side it looks too plain... i think it is because the hologram in the cake board are much more visible in the photos...I hand painted the mudcake which has a layer of choc ganache, and sides are lined with "sour straps" (its for a 12 y.o boy...come on!!) little toppers are the actual "battle brawler things, which to my understanding roll up into little balls like transformers... anyway, my japanese fluency helped with the logo... the kanji literally stands for "bursting" and "round thing" LOL
as always any feedback or tips are most welcome. i really truly struggled with a concept for this because i had to incorporate the lil brawler, that was all i had to go off..i looked on here fore inspiration and there were some great ones out there but due to time constraints i just had to go with painting the logo... TFL

This cake was designed for my cousin's daughter, Kylie. She loves Ponyo, and this was my favorite scene out of the movie. I wanted to capture as much of the movement and emotions of the situation as much as I could. This was also my first attempt at any type of gumpaste modeling.

This cake was done for a friends birthday. Yellow cake with french vanilla buttercream, covered in fondant. Cherry blossoms and tribal dragon are gumpaste. Design and colors were taken from a photo that was given to me, so I am not sure who to credit for the original inspiration. The birthday girl also wanted the addition of the cherry blossoms on top. The Japanese Kangi for "Happy" was my addition. Thanks for looking!
