Yeah, I went to a LOST premiere party and I made the cookies (and some " LOCKE'S boar sandwhiches")

This is a birthday cake for my brother whose favorite show is LOST. There are a bunch of show references that fans will recognize, but only if you are a fan! The cake is my own recipe of chocolate sheet cake and peanut butter pound cake to make a peanut butter cup. It is filled with chocolate buttercream and whole Reece's cups, and covered in mmf. The ocean is poured sugar, and the "smoke monster" around the top palm tree is spun sugar. the waterfall is bubble sugar. This is my first try at all of this sugar work. It was fun! The "LOST" floating in the ocean is my own technique of pressing gumpaste letters into the warm sugar. Turned out better than I thought it would!

I iced the cupcakes with white buttercream first. I used piping gel for the water and tinted it blue. I used brown sugar for the sand. I cut a piece of caramel candy for the treasure chest to make it look like it was open and used yellow confetti candies for the "gold". I used palm tree and umbrella toothpick decorations too!!

Simple cake to do, but is very well received. Island is graham cracker crumbs, mini teddy grahams for the bears, the tree was horrid to do! I used a pretzel rod and ended up using a marshmallow for the top of it because the gum drop that was suggested for me to use DID NOT work!

This was a birthday cake for my 7 yr old neice. She requested a mermaid with a bunny. Interesting combination, but she loved it! Fondant covered choc cake, with fondant mermaid, and bunny. Palm tree is a fondant covered dowel with leaves cut with leaf cutter. Island covered in white sugar for sand.

I'll admit to being not overly thrilled with making a volcano but once I got started it was actually a lot of fun! 10", 9", *8, 7", 6" (mostly carved out to make a hole for the styrofoam cup). Found at literally 20 minutes before leaving to put dry ice in styrofoam NOT tin foil so I didn't have a chance to airbrush the cup black. The kids LOVED it as did the owner of the venue. 100% inspired by CCers Melchas and mamakinloch's volcano cakes. MMF, candy rocks, piping gel waterfall.

The 3D cake was made half rounds, and sculpted - iced with buttercream and decorated with pretzels and candy. The crow's nest is a truffle. The water is blue jello of course (if you do this.... cut a hole in the jello and set the pan.... our jello warmed slightly and didn't support the cake enough! We ended up with a shipwreck - easily fixed with black shoelace licorice

Made this for my son's 6th Birthday. Inspired by many here on CC. Caramel cake (Thx to MacsMom!) filled with Milky Way filling. Iced in Chocolate Whipped Cream. Treasure chest is 100% edible! (chocolate, fondant, marshmallows) Added his Playmobile Pirate toys, paper sails on dowel masts, toothpicks & skewer rails. Crows Nest is ice cream cone covered in chocolate. This cake was SOOOOOO much fun to make!

Made this for a friend's surprise birthday party. He loves to play golf on the beach and so I put a golf course on an island in the ocean. 3 layer, 2 tier yellow butter cake with vanilla icing and plastic golf figurines. This was a huge hit at the party and I felt good about the outcome! Unfortunately the writing on top did not stand up the way I wanted. It sunk down into the grass, but everything else went well.

My sister is a big time Lost fan, so this year at the last minute I decided I was going to make her a Lost cake. When asked what she wanted for her birthday she just told me a nap, so I made a little figure of her asleep on the island. I didn't have a plan going in and I made the plane wreckage first, then came up with the idea for everything else, so the scale of the plane is way off, due to a family emergency I didn't have time to go back and redo it. Over all it works! It is BC icing with fondant and royal icing for the decorations.

Cake I made for the finale of my favorite show! I'd love to know what all my fellow LOSTies think :-) All of the pieces are made of fondant except the plane which is a cereal treat covered in fondant. The sand is graham cracker and the water is piping gel.

I used the Wilton train pan for the island shape, green and beige buttercream icing, fondant accents and figures, graham cracker sand with a little glitter dust, blue icing covered with blue piping gel for the water. For the palm trees I followed the Wilton website instructions (kept breaking on me though). I tried to incorporate images from the show: Jack n Locke, crashed plane, polar bear, statue, hole with body (head) in it, sub, numbers, game, wine bottle, cave of light, loom, n a couple suitcases.

My first island themed cake. Thank you to all of you for giving me ideas. I didn't have enough blue fondant, so i had to use buttercream icing for the water.

Island Princess birthday cake for a 1yo. 8" cake, everything edible but the ribbon around the base. May have lost my mind on this one as I spent 7hrs on the girl's hair alone. But I think it was all worth it. Phrase on the cake is in Palauan.

I made this cake for my 6 year old niece's birthday. She had very specific requests for what she wanted included on the cake, so it may seem like a strange combo, but she picked it! :) MMF and gumpaste figures. Thanks for looking. :)

Basic yellow butter cake w/ buttercream frosting. Pure cane sugar for "sand". Wrapped a tootsie roll around a dowel rod for the tree trunk, and made the palm leaves, beach towl and beach bum out of gum paste. Water is poured sugar.

This cake was for the luau that my son had for preschool graduation. It was a 2 layer 10 inch pineapple cake, with pineapple filling, buttercream icing and decorated to look like an island. I also used toasted coconut for sand and candy flowers for decoration. The other decorations are not edible.
