16", 12" and 8" layers; two bottoms layers are stacked. Top layer is tiered on top. This cake is based on the old Wilton Course III Final Cake with some variations. With did a shell/ruffle border under the hearts and on all three layers. We opted not to do any drop string borders as the cake had to travel so we did the ball borders down the sides and added the clusters of flowers to match the flowers on the hearts. The bride's sister provided the cake top.

This cake was ordered by someone for their husband for Father's Day. It's his favorite cake. The icing is hard to work with - Cool Whip, White Chocolate Pudding Mix and Powdered Sugar. It is very soft and that's why there wasn't much as far as decorating with it.

Usually my dad has to omit eating the desserts at our family get togethers. Since it is his day we decided we'd omit eating dessert. 6 inch white sugar free cake with diabetic icing.

We had a combo birthday/graduation party for work. I used white cake, raspberry filling, and IMBC. I left there with a swelled head. Everyone had such nice things to say. The yellow flowers are royal icing, the roses are IMBC.

Just a simple white sheetcake with gumpaste daisies to dress it up. Pink buttercream with some white piping too. Sugar crystals sprinkled to add a litttle sparkle. Quick and fun!

This is a white cake with vanilla pudding. I used royal icing for the dam. The flowers are made of gum paste with royal frosting center. THe cake is covered with cream cheese frosting and mm fondant. I used yellow fondant to make circles around the cake. I modeled it after "yellow circles" on brides magazine website. This is a 6in and a 4in cake. I made it just for fun... Trying to figure out who to give it to :)

Buttercream cake, 7 UP flavored, lemon icing. Fondant bow accent. I tried to use the Wilton "comb" thing and it never comes out right...

What a pain in the keister this cake was. I used the whimsical bakehouse house buttercream, which waaaay too soft. It also doesn't crust, and I just couldn't get the icing smooth for anything. My star cornelli and flowers are off kilter. It's a white cake torted into 4 layers with raspberry filling, every other layer is white or blue. The party I'm making it for has been cancelled, so I guess DH gets to bring it to work. I need a new icing recipe!

I deliberately collared the cake pans in order to obtain more height for each layer. The cake is frosted in buttercream. The flowers are all royal icing. Additionally, I added buttercream dots on the sides of the cake. The cake was actually my final project for a cake class I took in May 2006.

So here's my cake all finished. Some of you were very helpful in helping me out with this cake, so I say thank you. I made this just to practice my fondant and was tired of the cake I used to have. It was a lot of fun...my hands hurt from piping royal icing, but it wasn't too bad :) Entire thing has pearl dust on it, and pearls are hand rolled fondant.

I was inspired by a fellow user on CC by the name of "fytar". I saw her cake when I looked up golf cakes for ideas. This cake was made for my husband's coworker who is retiring from work. Chocolate cake and chocolate icing. Golf ball is pound cake. Thanks SO much for your wonderful idea! Everyone LOVED this cake!

The bride wanted the cake to be brown and white iced for a bi-racial wedding. All bc and each layer filled with different flavors. Groom's cake is a choc fondant covered tuxedo.

I should have used a larger bottom round. Live & learn. She and her groom and families loved it though. That's what matters!

Birthday cake for another potluck at work. Not at all the design I had in mind. Wanted to do basketweave and roses, but ran out of time and whipped icing wasn't cooperating lol. I'm sure they'll still like it. *crossing fingers*

Loved the way this cake turned out. The plan was to make it more like one I saw on here, but once I just put the light gray icing on, I thought it looked so realistic, I didn't want to add more borders etc. Didn't really want to put the oreos and worms on it, but that's what the customer wanted. Gives me ideas for Halloween :-) Cake is pineapple and whipped icing.

3 tier wedding cake made at the Cakes for Catering class at Wilton in July. It was made as a joint effort, with my 2 wonderful partners. We did a tropical theme, with royal icing poppies and lilies, fondant palm fronds, and a fondant pineapple topper

Offset Square Tiers, September 2005. Three square cakes, with a 3" difference in size (6", 9" and 12"). Note to fellow decorators: Offset squares like these should be FOUR inches different in size -- or corners hang off tiers underneath! Largest cake is carrot with whipped white chocolate ganache and cream cheese fillings. Top two are dummies. All were covered with buttercream and fondant. Details were royal icing, then painted with metallic dust mixed with clear alcohol.

This was my cake from course 2. I totally botched the basketweave (shaky hand) but other than that, I enjoyed making it. My instructor said my violets were better than hers and shes been in the business for over 50 years. Lets hope thats a sign for things to come!

The 3 tier white/ivory fondant cakes were adorned with handmade fondant pearls, flowers and leaves. Surrounding the cake were white chocolate lollypops with edible transfers of the couple's wedding photos, which were taken during/after their Las Vegas wedding. It was fun handmaking all the decorations and edible transfers for this special occasion for our friends.
