This was for a childrens party. They wanted it to be holiday. No Santa or Christmas references, so this is what I came up with. ;)

I didn't want to do the traditional cascade of flowers so I used the pillar globes for the snowman cake idea in the 2007 book. I did have to do at least one flower so I did the fondant roses - I was pretty excited about how they came out. Look a lot like Sterling roses.

Thanks for looking!

Peppermint Cake with Cream Cheese Buttercream and covered with Peppermint MMF and royal icing piping, dusted with superpearl. The Tree is MMF with royal accents as well. The sides of the cake say Peace, Joy, Hope, and Love. I like the overall concept of this cake, but my execution of the idea was not the best. I had decorated my twins' birthday cakes (the choo choo train and mermaid cakes) and had their party the day before, so I was tired!

This is my second cake to complete. It is a white/red velvet checkboard cake with a white chocolate filling and Italian buttercream. The checkboard cake was fun to make, but I made a huge mess with the batter!

I think the sculpting came out pretty good on this cake, but I will definitely do it the whole thing in fondant the next time. For those of you who are very observant, you may have noticed the reindeer poop my darling husband added on the cake board. Not sure which was a bigger hit at the party... the cake or the poop!

This cake is all made from MMF. If I were to do it again though I would use regular fondant because for some reason I can't get the MMF to cover corners and things well. The other stuff is more "elasticy" (Dont know if thats a word) It took a LONG time to get this one done. Every piece has to be perfect or it doesn't fit together right and the fondant gets hard on ya. Did find popping it into the microwave right before you attach it to be helpful in bending it better though.

This was the first time I had ever decorated with fondant. It was also the first time I had ever created a tiered/stacked cake with dowel supports. The cake was donated for a raffle that raised money for a local charity.

I was asked by my friend (who is also my boss) to make her a cake for her last day before heading off overseas for a couple of months. I think she meant a plain chocolate slab cake with icing on top but I thought I would surprise her! Inspired (of course) by Katharry's fab suitcase cake, although this doesn't come close to hers!
